I had a 35" top of the line tube TV we paid $2600 for in 1996. That damn thing lasted for 20 years and 5 moves and still wouldn't break. Weighed 180 lbs. We finally threw it away when we got our first 480p 42" plasma in 2006 for $2600. My daughter still uses the 42" plasma in her den.

Our first TV was a 13" B&W TV with a rotary knob. We had that for 4 years as our only TV but that was back in 1988.

Thank goodness no! My first TV that I bought for a home theater was a 36" Sony WEGA XBR400 and it weighed 250lbs. Once I finally got ready to get rid of it my mom decided she just had to have it. Initially I was going to hire movers to move it but then went the "cheap" route and phoned a friend. Mom decided she wanted it up on top of a 5' dresser. We almost dropped it and in turn it slip onto my friends finger and split it open from nail to first knuckle. I saved $350 on the movers but his co-pay at the urgent care cost me $500. Facepalm.

The closest I have to a tube is my old DLP in the Den. I remember how awesome I thought it was over 12 years ago when I got it! My father in law still has his, it's a 92 inch I think. It takes up the whole wall.

It looks like garbage today. Replaced the lamp twice already. It's mainly for the kids to use in the den. Has a few marks on the screen from the random Ninja Turtle or lightsaber hitting it... that's why it's in the Den. Viewing angle is a joke. If this lamp goes I'll replace with an OLED since the kids are outgrowing flying Nina Turtles.

Those WEGAs were made of bicks or something. They weighed a ton! They had those cool for back then remotes though. Truely ballar status for early 2000's.

Not sure what the refresh rate is. Not sure if OLEDs have a refresh rate. It lists their update rate as 1ms, whatever that means.

Spent the evening watching it and it really changes TV. The depth of the picture is remarkable. Will have to seriously consider one of the 77" models for the basement, but they are $4k.
Nice pick up. I have a 65" LG B8 OLED I purchased last year. I admittedly don't use it as much I had anticipated since we don't watch much TV in the great room. The little I've used it, I've been very impressed with the contrast and motion handling. We have Samsung LED and QLEDs in other parts of the house and while I like them primarily because they're brighter, the OLED is a different beast when watching movies and sports.

I love the idea of upgrading our flat screen TVs but the problem is then you end up watching them.

Congrats on the purchase. I had the same TV and returned it. Since I watch a lot of sporting events , The thought of burning drove me crazy on static images. Mostly everything broadcasted now has sum type of static image on the chanel which is a no go for OLED since it doesn't do well with it. Hope it works for you, enjoy

I’ve had a 65 inch Sony OLED for a couple of years now and love it. It would be very hard go back to back to a regular LED one at this point.

FWIW, we’ve done a large mix of movies, Apple TV radio streaming (the ATVs screen savers are mesmerizing on OLEDs), regular tv and Xbox/Nintendo switch use. Thankfully no burn in. Unless you keep it on the same news channel for hundreds of hours every day with those scrolling information bars........or a still image for a similar length, you shouldn’t have to worry about burn in IMO.

I've got a 65" C9. If you don't have one, get a 4K UHD player and watch a movie on that. It will blow your mind.
