Radio on

I just discovered that you don’t have to push the power button to turn on the radio. Just hit the up volume button on the steering wheel.

You can also just turn the knob on the radio. You don't ever need to press the button even though you can.

Are you ever really turning off the radio or just the sound?

Is this similar to "if a tree falls in the forest but nobody was there to hear it..."

I suppose, theoretically, "off" is equivalent to "no sound" for most people. Technically, is it "off"? I don't know. That was the case back in the day, and it's difficult to say as far AM/FM/XM goes since it's simply receiving a streaming signal, but I believe "off" really is "off" as far as all other media types go, since the media will cease to continue playing and will pick up where it left off when shut "off" (e.g. CD player, streaming music).

With the B&O system, when you press the knob to turn it off, it does lower the center speaker, which is different than just lowering the volume, which would leave the speaker up. I usually have the radio on, so I'd have to experiment a bit with this, but it could be interesting to see if other "system sounds" would cause the speaker to be up (e.g. navigation audio instructions) even with the radio/media "off."

I know it sounded kind of dumb.
Being raised to turn off everything when I leave, it bugged the crap out of me when things are on when I fire up a car.
As for the radio, pushing the button only seems to mute the sound.
Try a CD, push the button and you will see the time on the CD is still running.

Just turning the volume knob raises my center speaker.

I try to never turn the knob because it really bugs me it when the little straight line on it isn’t exactly vertical. OCD much? Lol. There must be others like me as well, because I noticed in a 2019 loaner that the power indicator symbol no longer rotates! They have redesigned it with a rotating ring around it. Jealous!

Well...if it really gets to you and you can't take it anymore...perhaps you can swap your newer VOL knob for an older version (2012/2013 model year). The earlier VOL knobs don't have the little line on them.

Ugh, ME TOO. This bothers me to no end (and way more than it probably should). I never touch this and try my best to swat away any hand that tries to touch it. I also got a loaner a few months ago and noticed they re-designed it so only the ring rotates around the power button. Having found out, it now bothers me even more lol.

We should all form a support group to get through this very difficult time.
