Thoughts On This SMB M6 GC?
So have been looking at M6 GC’s as my next car. Just sold an atomic orange H/C 07 Z06 and selling my 335i m-sport to go back to just 1 car. Looking at San Marino and Sakhir Orange as the colors I’d want. I’ve found this one, really like the leather it’s fitted with, seems to be in good shape, bad part is it’s across the country so I’d have to purchase sight unseen and have shipped 2k+ miles. It’s a 2 owner car, the dealer tells me it’s $3k+ under market but here on the Cargurus ad it shows that it’s actually over fair market. What would you guys pay for this car? Would you buy an M6 sight unseen if given really good pictures and video of the car? Thanks all!

I would have the dealer agree to have the car brought to a BMW center or reputable indy specialist for a thorough PPI or agree to allow you to fly out and do it yourself. It'll cost you $300-ish (plus airfare, if you go that route) but it's money well spent to avoid a $47G mistake.
As to what the "market" value is, that'll be determined by what someone is willing to pay. I find both MMR and other reports of "market value" don't factor well for equipment or desirability and they vary widely. See what others are asking for comparable year, mileage and options using the M Decoder to confirm the equipment so you can compare apples to apples. If you find his price is reasonable, buy it. If too high, negotiate a reasonable discount to come into line. Last edited by Cincinnatus; 05-01-2019 at 06:23 PM.. |

I will tell you my 14 with 26k cost me 46,5 - private party this Feb. It cost me 1k flat to ship from CA to MA. I have had no problems, but was lucky enough to see it on a business trip in the area.
Seems a shade overpriced to me with those miles BUT perhaps the color warrants more? Ours is space gray... |

While I think you should get it checked independently first, why not drive it back? I’d love to drive across the US one day but sadly I know it’ll be in a shitty rental car, not my M6 or anyone else’s

I just bought a 2015 SMB with 38k miles. Carbon Ceramic pads were just changed so you may want to inquire on that as the pads are not cheap...I love the brakes though.
If it was me I would do the PPI (remote so you see how it checks out). I have bought many cars too sight unseen (well fly in, ensure it checks out, and road trip back) too. |

Categorically wouldn’t buy unseen... but the car is gorgeous, and the best colour 😂... Agree price you are happy to pay, conditional that you will inspect the car - flights are a small price to pay for that extra comfort of knowing what you actually get yourself into... Different if it was a 4k mikes car...

you have a PM, I live 5 minutes from that dealership, my father purchased his CTSV from them so I have some experience with the dealership. While I would say the dealership is highly recommended I would still only buy if I can see the car in person. I can check it out for you and face time if you have an Iphone or answer any questions for you. I don't know the owner on a personal level but he has had that dealership for a long time and has an amazing reputation.

CCBs on a 43k mile car... you'll want to get a CBS read on remaining pad life and pictures of the rotor wear indicators.
Chances are you'll be the unlucky owner who'll dump $10k into a CCB replacement (or will try to convince the next buyer to do it.) |

Racing Brake makes a kit to swap the ccb rotors to standard iron with aluminum hats, while keeping the calipers. They don't list the price for the rear rotors, but the front are around $1600/pair. My guess is the rears are slightly less, so probably $3000 total.

Rotor pricing is spot on. Expect $10-$12k for all 4. |
