Rental cars

I rented a 428i vert to drive US 1 from San Fran up to the Redwoods in Eureka.
Cali really does have some of the prettiest country in the USA. That was a memorable drive.

I've pretty much whored out all the decent Turo's in Chicago past couple of months 😂

You're slacking! I think there's a GT4 somewhere on Turo in the west burbs with your name on it.

Maybe the guy took it down for the winter, but there was definitely a GT4 in the western burbs for rent a couple months ago.

Other cars available - A few AMG GT53 sedans available, a Ferrari California, a few C8 vettes, an M8, M3cs, RS5, R8. So there's some options... .just not much and they're pricey. Some of them require you to rent for a minimum of 2 days so if you're only searching for 1 day that might give different search results.

You know it's a couple weeks when I'm in town lol. The R8 is a 2012 so hard pass. I did one of the AMG GT's already. There's two G wagons and ones 3K per day and the other is 1K, lol. The M3 you speak of is a F80, already had one don't want to rent something I own or had. The RS5 is older and pull me over red. Plus, I don't want to Turo anything older than 2019. It starts getting questionable with the interior and or alignment on some of these cars older than a couple years.

It's crazy, here in LA a 2020 R8 v10 is $350 a day. They had Jeep compass at almost those prices in Chicago. 😂😂😂 Brand new S-Class in SF are around $130-180 per day. In chicago? Couple grand and nobody has the 2021 on Turo in Chicago. Nucking futs the price disparity.

Side note: Jeep compass what a goddamn disaster that car is. My other bro in law rented one for the week in VA and how the hell does an SUV have less trunk space than a sedan? (The camry had more trunk space than the compass)

Ssssoooo, the reason I know how much a Compass costs in Chicago is?! The October trip the flight was delayed and we missed our Turo. Said fuck it, get a rental for a day, had too much shit to do. Hertz was empty, Budget too. Avis had the following vehicles left -

1. Suburban
2. Compass
3. Chevy Malibu

Naturally, I asked for the Suburban. It's $5xx a day so I said wtf lol. The Malibu was $289 a day so I took that, they felt bad so they "upgraded" to the Compass. You wanna charge me $300 a day? Please have more than 4cyls and heated seats. It was white and had a glossy black roof tho. Almost felt like a M car.

So I'll be renting this Evo X in about a week and a half just for the hell of it. I've got some time off work, I've never driven one but have wanted to try one out ever since I carved corners in Gran Turismo with the Evo IV.

Anyone have any experience with these and anything I should know?

Nice rental, and probably the last ever good/interesting Mitsubishi, I've heard that the Evo's are a lot of fun.

Picked it up today and have it for 24 hours.

First impressions:

- maybe I've been spoiled driving automatics or "easy manuals" but I feel the clutch is pretty unforgiving. Have to be very precise with movements - I definitely stalled a few times...

- the turbos are LOUD. It sounds like I'm being splashed with water everytime I take it over 3k rpm

- there is absolutely no sound deadening in this thing (not that I was expecting there to be). After 10 minutes of highway driving my head was buzzing. It could probably benefit from an extra gear.

- the steering feel is great and I love the way it handles. It's a lot of fun to drive.

- not as fast as it looks/sounds... but the theater makes up for it.
