BMW F06 vs G30
I'm thinking of moving to G30 540i. It's not that I don't like my 650ix, I just don't love it. Fuel consumption is huge in the city, seats are not so comfortable, it's very long and very heavy beast and there is always a fear that the engine will eventually fail. I also miss native support of car play. What do you think about G30 540i?

If you don't love it...why keep it. Not sure why you fear the engine will fail...unless it's giving you signs/symptoms of failure.

Interesting, as I went the other way! I bought a G30 520d M Sport in 2017 when I sold my F10. At the time I was considering a 640d F06. Head and heart decision back then; I do a lot of motorway driving and the big difference in fuel economy (head) vs the occasional appreciation of the greater performance (heart) swung it for me. 3 years later I saw one of the last F06 640d M Sport Limited Editions with 19k miles and took the plunge.
The G30 had better / later tech and returned around 53mpg….. The 640d on similar journeys returned 43mpg. I appreciate that you’re talking 540i vs 650i so the fuel economy I mention isn’t that relevant. I just find the 6 is simply a nicer / more exclusive(?), better quality car. The G30 was a comfortable means of transport, the F06 raises more of a smile and I find I turn to look and admire it far more…. The later LCI cars have CarPlay and most of the tech you need (e.g. I had Gesture Control on my G30 and that alone is an example of doing things because they can rather than because there’s a need!). I see you’re in Poland, why not scour the market for a 640d and have the best of both worlds?! |
