Wireless charging shelf does it charge iPhone 12?

Anyone whom has the wireless charging shelf installed in their 6 series part number 84-10-2-449-887 can you confirm if this would charge like a Qi wireless charger onto say the iPhone 12 which has wireless charging capabilities built in?

When this was first released back when iPhone 6 was out - it required a special case for that iPhone which would enable charging wirelessly with the wireless shelf...

In our modern day example we would not need any special phone case particularly with an iPhone 12. So the question is would it charge said phone without the use of any special case and just placing the phone on the wireless charging shelf?

I went to the dealer with my 12 pro max in the Apple leather case and it fit in the charge place (barely) and took the charge in both the Gran Coupe and the X6 M Competition.
