Unhappy M6 Steering wheel retrofit option.

I just bought an Alpine White F13 640i in California and wait for it to ship to me. I'm currently shopping for my new partner. The first thing that I'm looking at is retrofitting M6 steering wheel. I came across this http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-M3-M4-1M...3082ab&vxp=mtr. They look identical to the M6 ones but it does not list F13 in there. I wonder if anyone knows if it work or not.
If it is not, I still have a second option. I could purchase: the paddle shifter, M performance steering, back cover, multifunction buttons and the harness. But with this option, the harness is kind of confusing. They have 32307848329, 32307848330, 32307848331 and 32307848332. I don't know which one should I pick . My car only have paddle shifter without heated and lane departure option. Could someone step in and point me to which should I purchase?

@boyhamdzui ,
Do you like the M steering wheel because of the color stitching or the trim design?
Does the 640 comes with M sport steering wheel already or not?

My car comes with Msport but it is a 2012 certify preown, which has a fat steering wheel. I just want to replace it with m performance wheel (http://www.getbmwparts.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462) ( even if I get the regular leather m6, it would cost the same). I already ordered all the parts I need and will assembly it this next weekend. I decided to go with the harness for everything ( heated and vibration). It cost the same anyway.

This is the one I put in mine to replace the M-Sport wheel. Reason I did it was because I have the Alcantara headliner, and the original M-Sport wheel felt too slick for me, my hand kept slipping on it.

Nice steering wheel and color combo. I actually go for the blue version, which is for m6. Hopefully I can get everything I need this weekend.

Thanks! The red or blue will replace the SA710 wheel (round airbag) in the 650 or the M6.

M Sport leather steering wheel (SA 710) - built after 07/2013: All parts can be adopted. Basic steering wheel, leather steering wheel (SA 240), Sport steering wheel (SA 255) for all cars plus the M leather steering wheel for cars before LCI - built up to 07/2013. Parts that cannot be adopted: Airbag unit, multi-function buttons and possibly shift paddles as well as steering wheel electronics must be ordered new and replaced. When installed with SA 248 (heated steering wheel), the heating function is disabled; it does not need to be decoded. The switch for the heated steering wheel remains without function.

Finally, I got the last piece to assemble the steering wheel today. I just need the airbag to arrive. They are in the custom for too long.

Finally, I got the airbag today . After assembly everything, the "-" paddle shift do nothing while the "+" is downshift. I switched the blue connectors for the paddle shifters to see if it works but still the same. I guess there is something wrong with the chip inside the paddle shifter. I think I should not trust european parts anymore

Did your car have paddle shifters before you installed the new steering wheel? I only ask because there may be nothing wrong with the wiring or connectors and it may be a matter of having the car coded to activate the paddles. Like launch control, it comes deactivated on North American models but can be activated via coding. They can also activate a bunch of other things at the same time.

I have a 640i M-sport so yes I had the paddle shifters option. Anyway, I figured out this morning that the seller sent me F80 paddle shifters instead of F13 M6 type . I have to contact the seller to get the correct version. My car only have paddle shifter , nothing else ( no heater, lan departure, etc...) but I actually bought a harness that include everything. I don't know if it can be a problem or not . I attached the picture of the finished product below. It's costly but easy to do ( took me 30 mins).

Hi r33,

Can you tell me if you needed to get a new airbag, shift paddles, retro fit harness?

I have a '12 640i M Sport and wanted to change the steering wheel, but believe for the '12 models a new airbag, shifter and electronics will also need to be purchased to change out the steering wheel.

Thanks,
James

James,

For my 2015 650GC M Sport, I just change the paddle shifter and the trim cover.
PM me the last 7 of your VIN, and I can tell you what parts that you will need.

You pretty much need everything, airbag, paddle shifter, harness, back cover, multifunction buttons and the steering itself.

Thanks all. I confirmed with my dealership that a new airbag, shift paddles and wires will be needed. Let's just say the cost to do this was not friendly at all.
