801C20... Need Some Help Please!
So I attempted to leave work today when the my 2013 650 kept shutting off. Finally got it to stay on after a few tries but the idle was rough. Left it running a few minutes when I noticed the dreaded check engine light. My scan tool gave me a 801 C20 code (ZGM central fault memory full - no control unit fault).
I then noticed the exhaust seemed to be pulsing for lack of a better word. If anyone knows what could be causing this, please let me know. I'm hoping it's a simple battery issue. |

Do you know what the simple generic OBD II diagnostic "P" code is for the "brand specific" code you got from your tool? If we knew the DTC (diagnostic trouble code)...we could simply type "BMW OBD II Pxxxx" into a google search to find what sensor and emissions area set the code that made the CEL (light) illuminate.
If you have the instructions manual for your scan tool (you don't mention its brand/mfg/name)...it may have a code table that could steer you in the direction of the fault code. If you have a simple/generic OBD II tool...use that to pull the 5 digit DTC "P" code...the table below shows what the generic OBD II codes reveal. Again, if you had used a simple generic OBD II scan tool...it would give you the federally mandated DTC "P" code which is easy to find info about since those codes have been around and available to the mass public since 1996:
