M5/ M6 Rear shock differences

I am trying to find the differences between the rear shocks on the cars. I tried to find all the part numbers that were relevant for each car and see what the differences are.

F12 convertible 33522284669
F13 coupe 33522284670
F12/13 Comp pack 33527850118
F10 M5 33522284047
F10 comp pack /F06 33527850117

The top 3 are interchangeable on the F12/F13 for sure
The bottom two are interchangeable for sure.
But can you put the rear M5 shocks on the rear of a M6 vert/coupe?

I ask because i have spare M5 rears for my F12 that i am putting a KW HAS kit on.

Hard to say. They might all physically fit and interchangeable. I imagine they're all different based on the weight of the vehicle.

I am hoping to find some measurements on the sets if possible, if anyone has the F13/F12 shocks out just measure the whole shock. i will put M5 measurements up too.

Here id the measurement of the m5 shock from the top of the gas strut were the wire comes out to the bottom of the shock.

Also forgot to mention the shock is completely taken apart. the top hat, spring and perch are not on the shock and are already removed. to compare measured length you would probably have to measure jest the bare shock itself.

I don't want to mislead or misinform, there's got to be a reason why they have different part numbers.

you are right but for some reason the rear shocks on both the coupe and vert are different PNs, but are interchangeable. i would assume that the only real difference then there is the gas shock internally, or that a process change was made at BMW later to streamline production after the LCI update.

as you can see the difference between comp pack shocks on F12/13 is non existent. but on non comp cars they are different. which leads me to believe that you can run either one. It could even be something internal to the shock that is programmed. i havent ripped a shock in half yet to see if there is anything inside, but maybe a small processor for voltage transforms? where the PN would be a pre set programming to them.

I havent found anything like this comparison on the 5 or 6 forums and thought it would be good info to try to get a comparison of it.

You cannot put the F10/F06 shocks on a F12/F13. The Sedan shocks are a lot taller than the coupes.

Well guys here is the massive difference. The f10/f06 rear shocks are way taller than the F12/13 rear shocks. Here is the size comparison.

the m6 shock might fit, but they are EDC shocks. if you have the connections for them thats great, otherwise it may be a issue setting the proper rebound rate
