What is this weird box in my M6

Hey, I just bought a M6 2006, It has a ton of custom work done to it. So there is a AUX port I need for my music but someone bolted this black box in there and it has no writing or anything on it so I’m not sure what it does or it’s safe to unbolt it. Thanks!
