I plan on seeing the car on friday, and aside from numbers, the thing I worry about is the mileage. Most of the 6er's I've been looking at are sub 50, but between 30-40k. My ever long debate between the 4 and 6 is reliability, and at the end of the day, the 4 is, majority of the time, going to be the more reliable car, and if not, at least cheaper to repair. I do my own diy's and I'm exceptionally handy, but I just don't want it to always be on my mind that the timing chains, the oil seal, and other random v8 problems are going to pop up. I already own an n20 for god's sake.

I think i could get an absolute steal of a deal cause my managers hated these cars with a passion since they never sell. That's why I'm not worried on the numbers. I need to hear it from you owners: If you did it again, and saw this car come up, what would you do?

quick edit: build date on the car is 5/14. this is not an lci, correct?

no its not an LCI but that's ok , crucially it will have the N63TU ( technical update ) engine that is a big improvement. it looks a nice car from the pictures, very elegant in that space grey. If it checks out and has all its services done then I wouldn't hesitate, id buy it if I was keen on one. if that means anything.... .

The one caveat id say is look out for heavily modified, lowered and 'chipped' cars etc etc... these may have had hard lives and if they have been through multiple owners.... then id say hmmm be careful..... The engines do not take kindly to abuse, poor maintenance and poor fuel. This car you have linked doesn't appear to be an abused or physically modified etc etc.

Look at it this way... BMW F series are now so depreciated they really couldn't get any cheaper. for a good car pay for it and enjoy it. its the last good looking coupe BMW have made. modern classic status for sure soon. I've no plans to sell my 650 though i don't drive it much, it gives me great joy when i do though.

Thanks so much for the advice yall. Staszek, you’re absolutely right that’s the feeling I mean of the cars. It’s isolated in the 6. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, just different than I’m used to.

I’m gonna be switching between the two constantly until I find the perfect car but man is it tough to do that lol!

Real oem says that lci starts in 9/14 for 650 gc’s and 11/14 for coupes. That differs based on xdrive or not but I’ll be on the lookout!

Got the repair order listed. An oil leak here, ac motor there, and some basic maintenance but nothing crazy. Any thoughts?

Well I drove the car. I liked it a lot, but didn’t love it. Like many have agreed massage seats, while not the best are not necessities. Same with the ventilated though I will say for me personally I’d rether have it than not. It seems the only major necessity for me is bang and olufson as the sound system is phenomenal for a car setup and I appreciate listening to good music, especially when leaving work

Got the tail a bit happy cause it was raining today, super fun! The car feels good in coupe form but the back seats are completely useless, I’m a 5’9 guy and the fact I can’t sit behind myself while I can in my 4 is rediculous.

I definitely think this isn’t the one for me but I’m continually whittling away at what I likes and don’t!

Do you have the VIN? Its probably one of the colors below...but hard to tell due to the condition of the paint (car may need a wash) and the type of light the car is in:

• Carbon Black Metallic
• Dark Graphite Metallic
• Black Sapphire Metallic

If you have the VIN number...post that. Or are you saying that the VIN decoding site you're using doesn't have the actual exterior paint named at the top near the interior color & material?

490 is used to represent special paint colors like the INDVIDUAL colors or the frozen paint colors.

Hmmm...do you think the car could have been repainted or wrapped? I ask because the image comes up as being the Individual color Moonstone Metallic. But Sonderlackierung (490) is a special paint color (ordered by a buyer) and may not be one of the Individual colors

Have the seller pop the hood and look for the exterior PAINT label in the engine bay.

Here's a link to (in my opinion) a useless "pic thread". I say useless because most of the owners only posted a pic and said something like "this is mine"...and left no information...specifically colors.

If the owners would have posted color & model info...it would have made it a terrific historical thread to help owners in the future with all the various colors that were offered.

Hope it went well..... I think that Individual 650i is Citron Black on Opal White Merino leather. Citron has a deep black with some red/ruby tone to it. Rare specs. If the car is painted in one of the "standard" Individual Paints like Moonstone, then the VIN lookup will state it accordingly. The special paint code is reserved for non standard individual paint codes like frozen silver, citron black, pure metal silver, stuff that can't be ordered off the standard options list; it's "special" ordered.

well unfortunately I did not get the car. I don't know what it is but I think i need to have the car longer to know or sure if its the car for me. on top of that i was really adament about getting a warranty and we couldnt agree on the price, so i walked out.

stings, but i get it. i worked at a dealership, if it doesn't work it doesn't work. just sucks that i flew out to see it and still didn't feel right about it.

Honestly i think its too late to own a 6 series. i feel like it would have to be something special for me to really latch on.

In F13 it is ok being not able to sit behind 5'5'' driver. I am 6'5'' and even 3yo can't sit behind if not in yoga position.

Try GC. I can sit behind myself there.

Prelci. I prefer the look but it would’ve been nice to get the tu3 with 80 extra horsepower lol.

Regardless, it’s being shipped out after I looked at it and finalized details in California this weekend. Should be here end of week!

Just curious, was the M850 on your radar? A lost of similar features to the 650.

Yes but way out of budget currently. 850 would be perfect but cheapest we’re looking at are like 35 for high miles.
