Acceptable / Ideal Driving Conditions with Extreme Weather?
I know this may be a ridiculous question but what is the acceptable / ideal driving conditions, weather wise?
I recently picked up a ’14 BMW M6 GC Comp (see pic below) and been having a lot of fun with it lately. I’ve had regular BMW’s before but not a sports / competition car like the M6. I ask because I live in AZ where there’s extreme heat over the summer (triple digit - 125*F +/-) which is coming up. Obviously I don’t want to overheat my engine/transmission nor push it. I always let it warm up a little bit when I first start driving during colder months then go about my business. Not sure about extreme heat… -DK

I have never had problems with overheating of my M6 GC CP, even passing through Arizona on one of those days. (it is not much better here in Houston). As far as warming up the engine, you can drive off as soon as it comes down off the high idle, but do not wring it out until the oil temperature reaches operating temperature. This practice is a critical part for a long engine life. Driving easy for a few minutes before you shut off the car will get you a lot of thanks from your turbo's
