Hey guys I currently have an F83 M4(DCT) and now I'm interested in buying an M6 (DCT coupe). I just wanted to know if there are any crazy mechanical or electrical problems to look out for when buying one of these cars and if there will be anything crazy down the line for example the crankhub issue on f80 M3/M4s.
I haven't addressed my M4 yet with a preventative crankhub solution so part of the reason I'm looking into getting an M6 is to avoid having to pay for that whole "fix" which is around $4k in the North East. Figured I can just trade up for the M6 and spend on mods rather than expensive preventative fixes. Thanks |

Good luck with your search, I recommend focusing more on low miles and condition rather than year necessarily. Also, try to get one from a BMW dealer as you have some guarantee on condition and issues!

Do you recommend less than 50k miles? Most of the listings I'm interested in are 34k and lower. Two of them are from BMW dealerships around me as well

Absolutely below 34K miles if you can find them, since this car is typically not a daily driver you should be able to find the one you like with low miles. But I always recommend dealer purchases since the couple thousand more you are paying include several thousands in repair, maintenance, cosmetic detailing, new tires and battery typically plus if any issues show up after purchase they can be held liable. As opposed to a private seller or used car dealer that once you drive away you are on your own and if they know they will sell they do no maintenance!
