*urgent* How to put DCT car in neutral for towing without starting

So my car died today immediately after pulling out of the garage. It was driving perfectly fine a few days ago with no symptoms of anything wrong. Today I went to drive it and it turned over than died. I started it again and it eventually started. Pulled it out of the garage and then it died completely and now I can't get it to start.

I have a tow company coming but my question is how do I put it into neutral without starting the car? I don't have the hidden manual unlock under the cup holders and I looked through the owners manual and didn't see anything. I found a thread that had a link but the link doesn't work anymore.

You have to unhook the latch from underneath the car after removing the protection covers

Absolutely bonkers! I wasn't able to jack the car up and put it into neutral and I wouldn't let them drag it onto a flat bed so they had to rig up some tow dolly system so all 4 wheels are off the ground.

Unbelievably stressful and frustrating situation!

It happened to me once and unfortunately I was blocking the exit to a parking garage. Just terrible. It was my wife's birthday and we were headed out to meet friends for dinner. God Bless my wife, 24 years of 100% ride or die, stuck this out with me.

In the end though I let the tow operator lift the car by the rear wheels and he ended up F*$!ing some things up. It took about 6 months but via AAA I was able to collect some of the cost back.

Isn't there some sort of lever under the ash tray near the shift lever that will set the car into neutral?

ETA: Reports differ as to whether this works for M6 or not...

BMW says it should not be flat towed. Transport on flatbed only. You need a screw driver to take it out of park.

This method doesn't exist on our cars. The only method appears to be from underneath the vehicle which makes absolutely no sense.

Just to verify what you wrote & found...the instructions below for the M6/M5 w/S63 engine don't apply to your 2015 M6?

I can confirm that the cup holder method isn't available on my car, so it is clear some changes were made at some point. I was going to say it was an LCI change, but since it appears to also be on cars before LCI (including Jeffxxx's car), I don't know.

Without a flatbed it'll be a sad situation. (Nsfw language)

Correct. I pulled the cup holder insert out and there wasn't anything there.

Thanks for verification of the cup holders location being "no beuno" even though they are given in the TIS.
