Change Plugs?
I’m about to turn 59K miles. I’m thinking about doing the walnut blasting, changing the plugs and perhaps the serpentine belt. However, the car idles so smooth you sometimes can’t tell if it’s running, has plenty of power and gets 28 mpg on long trips, about 15 in town (I have a somewhat heavy foot).
My question to y’all: Is any of this necessary? As far as I know the plugs are original, as well as the belt, etc. I change the oil every 6k or so. |

Yeah if I were you, I would leave the walnut blasting alone for now; especially if you are achieving great gas mileage and a smooth idle.
Contrary to the previous N54, which was notorious for carbon buildup at early mileage, the N55 does not appear to have this issue until you inch closer to 100k. And even then at that point, N55’s from what I’ve read are pretty good on the carbon buildup issue. I read somewhere on this forum a person who owns a ‘13 F10 N55 who has 300k on their engine and has not completed the walnut blasting procedure, yet is still running strong. As well as several other N55 owners who are extremely high mileage. |

Thanks for the great info. For a long time I lamented not buying a 650, but now, with the insanity in the car market, I’m considering keeping the 640 long term. It’s reassuring to hear about such high mileage cars! |
