Brake Caliper Clip Question

If any of you are like me it drives me nuts when I find something missing, incomplete, or otherwise just not optimal. Maybe my ocd gets the best of me from time to time, but this one was noticible.

Is it possible for a break caliper clip to fall off?
I head a noticeable rattling coming from the front passenger side, almost as if I had a broken end link or stabilizer bar. NY roads are crap, and your almost guaranteed to hit a crater or two.

After getting my Megan Supremos installed this weekend, I noticed that audible clanging sound. Made an appointment for this Friday to get this addressed. When I parked my car today, I noticed that the M sticker I had on my caliper was missing. After a closer look, it appears the whole caliper clip is gone. Could this clip actually fall off?

I had my calipers powder coated high gloss red, and have to go through the hassle of Powdercoating and installation.

The image with the caliper clip is the driver side. When you see the 2nd picture you clearly see the brake pad exposed because the clip is missing.

Anyone heard of these things just breaking or falling off?

There is usually a good amount of tension I've never had one come off

I have never had one come off either, but I also have not yet had a reason to remove one on my 6 to see exactly how it fits. That large flat section where your M sticker sits is different than most cars, which don't have anything like that.

This one honestly boggles my mind. It's very hard to believe it fell off. Also I tried to snatch out the other one and it was impossible without removing the calipers. I can't explain it. Had to order from online since they are not I stock at local dealer. I wanted to get my front rotors and pads replaced, but if they don't have that anti rattle clip in stock makes no sense to do so until I have the clips in hand. Plus I have to powder coat them high gloss red again and slap on the m sticker. Really annoying.

I've had some fall off on a different car (not this style), or I suppose more correctly explode off. Usually the only way it can happen is incorrect installation, because they're under so much tension it's easy for it to spring out of place.

Hmm... OK so technically it is possible. The only way I think this can happen is if I hit a pothole or something. But at least I can rule out vandalism.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

I ordered these pads and rotors, and they came with new anti rattle clips.

Thanks for the link. How do you like the new set? Improved brake performance? Any brake dust?
I was interested in getting a set of crossed drilled and slotted rotors, but couldn't settle on a set. Was looking at powerstop since I had experience with them before, but ended up getting the rears changed at the dealer for a fresh set.

Can't beat it for the price. Good stopping power under normal driving. I don't track or race the car. They are smooth, don't make any noise, and I've driven about 200 miles with very little dust.

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up buying the anti rattle clips and getting them powder coated then installed. Bought and extra one just in case this "issue" happens again.
