I just got into a 650i, and was wondering what fuel economy people are getting with their car.
I'm averaging 15.7 L/100km or 14.9 mpg.

Convertible, 2 door coupe, or 4 door grand coupe`? There's weight differences.

Thanks.

Below is the chart I keep for every fill-up. I just got my f06 650ix GC back in August 2018...so I don't have a full year yet of data...but you can see the data at the bottom of columns F (actual calculations) and G (data from OBC) that have been averaged. I think its also important to take note of AVG MPH because there are lots of other variables like topography (hills/plains), urban/suburban/rural locations, city or highway, etc that can affect MPG...so seeing the AVG MPH gives an indication of how much highway/non stop driving versus city/stop-n-go driving that may be occuring:

What's your AVG MPH and what fuel octane do you use? Just asking because including your average miles per hour can give an indication of your driving conditions...like if MPH average is low...then that would indicate a lot of stop-n-go/city traffic or lots of idling/traffic-jam scenarios etc without actually telling us your minute-by-minute daily route.

If your avg mph is higher...then that would indicate road conditions where there's not a lot of stopping like mostly highway, or lots of parkways/boulevards with timed lights and not a lot of braking and take-offs.

Also, if you're using 87 AKI or 89 AKI....that could also be affecting your fuel consumption and overall performance.

How cheap is petrol there? we are paying around £1.16 /$1.50 per litre ($5.50 per US gallon ish) in the UK, then £1.26 / $1.63 for diesel

I haven't been driving the 6 since the end of last year...but I use the same fuel (93 AKI) in the X5. The last two fill-ups for 93 AKI I paid $2.26 (per US gallon) on 2/3/2019 and $2.28 (per US gallon) on 1/17/19.

Garage List
16.9 mpg in 3 weeks of luxobox driving on Comfort setting.

27.8mph, so mostly city streets, moderate highway. Say 80/20.

Just came back from an out of town journey to attend a funeral...so I have some fresh MPG data.

As mentioned in my prior posts...average MPH plays a role in understanding the MPG. This trip was mostly traveled on federal interstate, US multi-lane limited access highways, and US two-lane roads. There was only one small town (between home & final destination) that included 3 lights and 1 other light where I had to turn off one US 2-lane road to another one. The higher MPH indicates that there was very little braking. I averaged over 23 MPG vs the 16 MPG I get normally driving around town. This was 98% of the entire trip...the othe 2% would be the city & local roads at the destination city to get to the venue of the funeral.

Gotta say the N63TU gets excellent highway MPG (in my opinion) for a 444HP engine. It's getting either the same or better MPG as my old e38 & e39 (M62 & M62tu engines respectively) that was only 282 HP and my e53 X5 with its N62 engine with 315 HP.

1st pic below is from 2/10/19 (mostly highway driving)...and the 2nd pic is from 9/16/2018 (local/city driving)

Averaging around 11ll/100km / 21mpg with a mix of urban and motorway driving. Around town I drive in Sport with chassis only. Motorway is always Sport+. Hardly ever drive in Normal or Comfort.

Last year I did a road trip from Phila to Nova Scotia and back and put 2800 miles on the 650ix, mostly 75 to 80 mph. At the end the car was showing 28 mpg for the whole trip.

Cool My friend said... not me...

I ("I" meaning my friend, not me) regularly drive from London to Newcastle and back in the same day - A1 & A1(M) all the way... If I drive like a normal person I get about 24-26mpg - cruise set around 88mph.

If I drive like I'm pissed off and just want to get there... 16-20mpg still try to use cruise control set where traffic permits... set at various numbers that begin with 9s and 1s. But aim for smooth energy-conserving movements.

If it's summertime and I'm in a *great* mood, wearing my MAGA Trump hat, with the roof down, sport mode, rock playlist blastin, and my favourite IDGAF/I wish I was in The States/ F this tiny island mindset... trying to see how many Brits I can "undertake", and dishing out/collecting 1-finger salutes.... I get about 6-10mpg, the speed limiter is engaged from time to time, I watch the oil temp (surprisingly does well). Brake fade is real with OEM non-BBK. Life is short. Fun is had. I stop at the Shell stations for V-Power at least twice..
