Best Alloys
Hey all,
I enjoyed reading the many posts by everyone showing pictures of their cars or of exhausts etc however I haven't found one yet dedicated to the alloy wheels. I have a white grand coupe which now has the m performance black grills, carbon spoiler and in the coming weeks the car is being sent off for the following; Rear 640d and front quarter side M trim to be removed and black badges to be put on instead And The side chrome door handle strips and chrome trim around the side indicators to be wrapped in black gloss to match the shadow line around the windows. The car currently has the 20" silver M sport wheels however I was thinking of having them refurbished and sprayed in gunmetal gray to finish the car off however wanted to see if anyone else has had their wheel colour changed. Would love to see some pictures to help me decide what to do!!! So go one everyone, show off your alloys!!! |

Instead of buying other alloys I'm hoping to refurb my 20" m sport instead and get them changed to this colour. |

Havy do you see a huge difference between yours (M433 wheels) and the M668 from G30-G31 series?

Indeed so.
I really like both but I am afraid the M433 will have too much of a POSITIVE SCRUB on the rear axle as compared to the M668 which both front and rear are very close to my OEM M373 wheels. |

The M6 hubs are much further in as it shares a completely different rear suspension design with the F10 M5. The rear bodywork is the same but the 20x10.5" 19mm offset wheels actually end up being in about the same outer edge location as the non M 6 series with 9" wide wheels and 44mm offset.
That is why F10 M5 20x10 34mm rear wheels are quite aggressive on a non M 6 series and the M6 wheels outright do not fit at all. |

I like the idea of the white car with the dark wheels. Here are pics of my black car with brushed titanium. FYI - If you're looking to have stock wheels powder coated in a "brushed" finish, it is usually pretty expensive. I've seen powder coaters charge $200-250 per wheel and more. You can get some Vertinis like the ones above for around $1900 for a set. You could probably sell your stock wheels for around $800 bucks and be around the same price. And as an advantage, they are rotary forged so they will be significantly lighter than your stock wheels

Situation
I love those M433 wheels simply too much and must find a way to install them on my 650i...... Original M373 wheels: FRONT: 8,5 x 20 ET 33 - 245/35 R20 REAR: 9 x 20 ET 44 - - 275/30 R20 M433 (original M6) Wheels FRONT: 9,5 x 20 ET 31 - 265/35 R20 REAR: 10.5 x 20 ET 19 - - 295/30 R20 The REAR is a NO-go. 10.5 with ET 19 simply won't do it. But what about this setup? 1) Purchase 4x wheels all same as FRONT SIZE setup - 9,5 x 20 ET 31 2) 9,5 x 20 ET 31 - 245/35 R20 FRONT 3) 9,5 x 20 ET 31 - 275/35 R20 REAR Would this work? I suppose it will but what's your opinion? I intend NOT to modify anything. |

Yes Havy that is what I was thinking regarding tire size - keep it original at 245 front and 275 rear while using 4x 9.5 size front M433 wheels. 275 rear is plenty in my opinion car looks nice and decent and for a 650 I think just about right.
This is what I got when calculating OEM size vs. 4x M433 9.5 ET 31 wheels on a site: FRONT: SUSPENSION: Rim is 11 mm closer to suspension components. Acceptable for most cars FENDERS: Tire will stick out 2 mm farther. Rim will stick out 15 mm farther. Acceptable for most cars WHEELWELLS: same BRAKES: 100% clear (leaves even more room than OE) SCRUB RADIUS: Positive scrub radius (about 2 mm). Almost no difference. Please be aware that calculated value is approximate. REAR: SUSPENSION: 100% clear (leaves even more room than OE) FENDERS: Tire will stick out 13 mm farther. Rim will stick out 19 mm farther. Make sure that you have enough room under the fender. If not, consider narrower tires or higher offset WHEELWELLS: same BRAKES: 100% clear (leaves even more room than OE) SCRUB RADIUS: Positive scrub radius (about 13 mm). Scrub radius will be changed by 13 mm, this may affect the car's handling. Please check manufacturer recommendations. Please be aware that calculated value is approximate. Thus the only "greater" variation remains the positive scrub radius of 13 mm extra on the rear axle. The other variables are very acceptable. Still is 13mm positive scrub radius cause for concern? |

Scrub radius at the rear doesn't matter - you don't have rear wheel steering.
I have a spare set of F10 M5 343m wheels as well as my set of F13 m6 343m wheels. I always had a plan of buying an F11 wagon and putting the 20x9" and 20x9.5" wheels onto that car and was planning on running 255/35r20 with 275/35r20 rears, or 245/35r20 and 265/35r20. I don't think running 30mm tyre width difference on the same width of wheel will look all that great. I'd suggest one of the combos I just mentioned assuming you have a 2wd car. |

Hi Brad yes it makes sense of course but the site still warns that "it may affect handling" though correct we do not steer with the back... so I guess it's fine.
Car is an Xdrive model and again I just want those M433 before next summer. I do not like the M343 that much to be honest and they are also more common. My problem with the original M6 wheels is the REAR. Front would fit, but the rear is a 10.5 wheel with ET19 compared to stock which is 9 and ET 44....... |
