► Winter Tire Options For 20" 343M Wheels
i can not find matching front/rear winter tires fitting the oem 20" 343m wheels.
some have the rear in oem size and some front but haven't found same tire having both front and rear sizes available. i do not want to mix/match tire brands. am i missing something or does everyone use the oem 20" winter tire set from bmw with 409m wheels?

just fyi, if you want a dedicated set, you can try buying OEM 19 inch wheels from the M6 coupe and maybe the M5 (M5 offsets are different). I'm going to guess you can find more options in the 19 inch sizes:
M6 Style 344: 19x9.5, 19x10.5 265/40/19 295/35/19 M5 Style 345: 19x9, 19x10 https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/style_345/

i found porsche has same tire sizes for winter setups 265/295 20" and ended up with pirelli sottozero serie II. i didn't want to downsize size to:
1) offer maximum rim protection (low side wall already, didn't want less width to cover rim) 2) maintain same radius for driveability i have ccb so downgrading to 19" was not an option.

I use sommer/ winter same size 265/295. Winter are Pirelli and the 295 is actually 325 . Sommer I will change to Michelin. If you use the same size for sommer and winter you don't feel any differences in driving whereas changing to 19" the entire feeling is different. |

Check out the Michellin PILOT ALPIN PA4 N-SPEC at tirerack. Read the reviews and testing have done in there.
It's the best winter tires I have driven on and I have used over 5 different sets of winter tires already. They have 255/40/20 and 295/30/20. However, driving in the winter with that thin side walls and wide rear tires aren't very ideal. I was in a similar situation and I made a decision to buy the OEM 19" wheels and put on the 265/40/19 on all four corners. I live in MN and so far it's exceeding my expectations of handling in snow and dry conditions. Last edited by JC04; 01-29-2019 at 10:49 AM.. |
