I don't think the strut or most of the suspension parts will be the same.

yep. Just for future reference, the major differences between M cars and the standard cars are usually:
1. motor + transmission + drivetrain/differentials (and all related parts attached to it, though it may share some common parts such as the radiator, hoses, etc) 2. suspension and structure including how the measurements for wheel/brake location (while the unibody is the same, the M car may have additional chassis welds to increase structural rigidity 3. interior leather and steering wheel 4. body panels (it was just this odd case that the 6 series hood is the same as the M6, but traditionally, it's never been the same due to different body panel design) 6. wheels and brakes including brake booster, unique offsets and wheels widths.

competition package doesn't effect swapping the brakes.
Going to ceramics is a huge step. You'll need a shop that knows what it's doing. There's a thread out there on F80 part of bimmerpost that shows what's involved. Aside from the basic braking parts, you'll need a servo/booster and a bunch of clips and screws. You're looking at a $12k in parts alone. BMW sells a "conversion kit". Then you'll have to get it installed.
