Headlight Condensation

Hi,

Recently picked up a 2013 640D. I’ve noticed condensation in both headlights, is this normal or should I be getting it checked out? Thanks!

Slight condensation at this time is normal. You could check if the ventilation holes are blocked. As soon you switch on the light it should go away.

Mine doesn't seem to go away, where do I find the ventilation holes?

On the back side of the light should be a small rubber hose. You can try to get rid of the fogging with a hair dryer. Or even with a hoover. If it doesn’t work the light case is probably broken somewhere. As I have said earlier light fog is normal.

Here's some headlight condensation info from the TIS: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...lights/YFcTUkX

TIS instructions on how to DRY condensation in headlights: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...nsf25/EroGcV3U

Note:. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...light/HQ4kO4KW
Certain weather conditions can lead to fogging on the inside of the headlight lens.
This is not necessarily a fault that requires replacement of the headlight.
Top row (A): Permissible fogging. Headlight does not need to be replaced.
Bottom row (B): Impermissible fogging. Replace the headlight.

I had the same problem on my F32 a while ago. Checked with several BMW dealers and all said it was within "tolerance" and that it normally goes away when driving and car heats up. They said it not should last over a longer period time. Warranty will not cover this unless it can be proven that there is an issue which causes water and/or humidity to get in continuosly. In my case it never occurred again.

Hey guys had a e92 for past 8 years now I've just got a 640d gc and noticed now I'm at home and parked the car I went back out after an Hour just to have a look at it and the headlights are steamed up. So is the windscreen. Is it just a cold night? There is however some water droplets on the top Portion of the light and the condensation is at the bottom part of the headlight. Is this a big enough issue to take it back?
I have warranty but an issue so soon is a Bit annoying.

It looks ok but keep an eye on it. Sometimes it is so humid that water droplets can occur. As soon you start your car an switch on the lights the fog should go away quickly.

hey guys with the weather warming up over the past two days, condensation is all gone, there a couple of water droplets left which i suspect may bring it back once temps dip, but ill have to try drying it out using a hairdryer. i think to prevent this from happening no jet washing the headlight area ever.
