The rear will come out by 54mm which is too much I guess. Please keep in mind the it is very important for a Xdrive that the front and rear wheels are the same size. If not you will probably damage the multiple disc clutch (Lamellenkupplung) I don’t know if the translation is correct I used mixed size on my old F34 but within 1% difference between front and rear. That was ok according to BMW.

Hi Havy,

regarding M433 wheels the rear will stick out by 44mm which is too much for the space under the fender I guess.

ET difference = +25 mm
1.5" difference on the wheel - 38 mm /2 = 19 mm

25+19 = 44mm

Here in Switzerland many sports coupe cars Xdrive models come with "Mischbereifung" and BMW confirmed it is no problem. My F06 car comes directly from them (BMW Schweiz) and is factory fitted with mixed wheels/tire (M373 wheels) sizes courtesy of M-Sport Package. Also my F32, imported from Germany came factory fitted with "Mischbereifung" - 255 rear and 225 front. Wheels size is also different on the LM 442 spoke wheels.

I have been driving this setup for 3 years - including winters and never had any issues. While for winter mixed tires and wheels' sizes are generally not recommended (for traction purposes), many have confirmed to me that technically the car does not suffer from this setup in any ways.

Ah, ok. Than it is /was maybe only an issue with the F34. It was quite a hassle to get the ok from BMW.

I heard that before but then imagine if it was true for all X-drive models one could not or should not be able to choose certain M-Sport package / wheels combination. And here you have a lot of Xdrive models being sold. There are for example some wheels such as the 416 Styling (Vielspeiche) and the Styling 668 for the F30 and F36 models where are 4x wheels are the same:

8x18 225/45/18 - ET 34

The same wheels are then 225/50/18 for the F34.

BMW recommends this setup for WINTER - regardless of Xdrive or non-Xdrive models. Obviously for traction purposes in cold and icy conditions you will be better off.

For the rest you will see for F30, F32, F34 and F36 series most if not all 19" and 20" wheels are by default mixed (225 front - 255 rear) and this applies to both RWD as well as AWD models.

Here's my Sakhir with Black Zito ZF03 wheels.
I like the way the black Contrasts the Orange. I've also wrapped the chrome grill and sidemarkers to blend in with them.

20x9.5 front and 20x11 rear with 12MM Spacer.

That looks awesome you use 12mm spacer front and rear?

F06WINS I had just Once a xdrive and that was not funny with the tires. They really made rocket science out of it and scared me almost to death with that. But I am happy for you if this works for you.

Normally not a color I would go for but your setup and contrasts (with those cool black wheels and model amongst other) makes your car really impressive.

Sure I get you.

I cannot comment on PRE-2013 models since the F32 I got from 2014 was my 1st X-Drive BMW at all. I tend to look at other BMWs a lot when they stand parked and also at the choices you can configure.

For example if you check Leebmann24 or Baumbmwshop24 in Germany to mention a couple, when choosing an original BMW wheel you will notice that there is no distinction between Xdrive and non-Xdrive models. Furthermore you will also notice that 19' wheels sizes and above come standard in "Mischbereifung". If you want a square setup on an F30 or F32 for example you must go 18" or even "17 which will look a little weird on most cars.... let alone those with M-package or m-performance trimmed.

For the F34 you can also choose 8x17 but that is clearly a setup I would drive in winter since 17 is quite small in my opinion for the size of the F34.The Styling 394 (17") (Sternspeiche) wheel can be seen on many F30s too - in WINTER.
Out of the OEM wheels listed for the F34 (3er GT) most of them are square setups in either 17" or 18". Whereas there are a couple of 19" wheels for the F34 which also come in mixed setup such as:

FRONT - 8x19 - ET 30 - 225/45/19
REAR - 9x 19 - ET 42 - 255/40/19

I guess the F34 is then a bit of an exception in this respect as most wheels OEM setups are square in either 17" or 18" configurations. This is why BMW instructed you back then to keep it this way. Regardless of Xdrive though, you could have still mounted 19" tyres with the above setup such as:

Styling 389 (19")
Styling 440 (19")
Styling 466 (19")
Styling 598 (19")

I agree... I'm usually not a fan of Gloss black but it just flows on Sakhir orange. I'm usually a big fan of brushed finishes

Just 12MM on rear... I got these Zito's off a guy with an M4 and the fitment was pretty good on front.
