This is much needed money, approximately 600 USD's, as my motor seized up two weeks after I had to deal with this out of pocket expense. This 600 dollars will make a small but much needed dent in the approximate $13k motor swap.

Thank you so much.
Congrats that's huge! what happened to your engine? downshifted seized? Had heard a lot of story about S63 motor seized and it let me considering about purchase a warranty

I was taking my wife out to dinner for her birthday, we pulled of the interstate on to a main street, stopped at a light and as I pulled away I could tell the car wasn't making power. I wasn't jack rabbit starting off the line but pressed in the peddle a bit more and there was not acceleration and i could hear some fluttering/tapping sounds from the engine. I pulled over and turned it off only to have it not restart.

I had it towed to bmw and eventually was told they would need 5k just to open the engine to begin a diagnosis. After I bought the car I took it to the dealership where it was originally bought and maintained. I got an oil change and some other things done. According to the SA the previous owner had the rod bearings done but didn't state how long ago.

The engine seized about a month after the oil change. smh

Once i get it in to a shop I will share what I learn with the community.

I was in and out in less than an hour, and that also included doing a couple of other warranty items at the same time.

Mine took all day. My dealership has cut back on staffing due to lower volume of cars.

They kept mine for 3 days cus they didn’t have the parts. But they gave me a brand new x7 as a loaner so I was cool with that.

Lucky you. I loved the X7. I got drive the X7 M50i during a BMW event.

At my dealership, the best loaner available was a M340i. I got a damn X2 30i tho

I was hoping they had one of those LED roof interiors. haha. They gave me a X3M before, that was kinda fun making "car fart noises" as my son would say.

It's a sad indication actually... Loaner cars are typically excess stock they cannot sell immediately. They're typically entry-level 28i/30i cars, and infrequently 35i/40i. Many dealers also use the PHEVs as they get an immediate tax credit for punching the warranty and registration card.

My dealership uses a ton of X1, X2, X3, and GT cars. Let's be honest these are very much not desired.

But using a car like a X3M or in my case, a M340i, cars well north of $60,000 just shows that BMW cannot move this type of car either, which is surprising a bit. Maybe not, as these cars are designed to fit a niche market.

Get an appointment next week. Try to get a M8 or X6M but nothing available :mad0259 I told them that Porsche gave me a Panamera turbo Sport Turismo for a test drive and I was very pleased. Now they are searching for either one of the cars.
