F06 640d GC Audio

Hi all, the new to me 640d GC I’ve got comes with the S677 Professional DSP HiFi
I’m trying to get my head around to what is the difference between this and the Harman Kardon system on these. I’ve read on another forum that they are the same in terms of hardware and speakers?
And to be fair it sounds quite poor in my opinion.. I had the Harman Kardon/Logic 7 in my e92 and it was superb at all levels of volume. The s677 sounds half as good as the E92 system.

Is the s677 and the Harman Kardon really the same hardware wise and just needs flashing (limited info on that from another forum) or is that just BS?

Back in the day price differential between HiFi and the HK was not much, so i'd guess the changes were small. With the newer cars I would suspect much of the hardware will be different, there are better options out there than HK depending on budget of course. Personally I cant understand why an upgraded sound would'nt be specced from new for the sake of a couple of hundred

Not all upgrades are just "a couple hundred". The B&O upgrade was a US$ 3700 option.

When I test drove the 6 at the dealership closest to me it had the BO.
Maybe my ears are not inclined to sounds, but i was not impressed or should I say blown away. Its me not the BO.

The B&O sound system is good, but I’m my opinion it’s not a mind blower. However, I will say that the EQ needs to be set to retain settings for you to appreciate the sound quality of the music. It makes a world of a difference.
