R888R 315 vs 325 width

(moving to appropriate forum) All,

F10 M5 guys are putting R888R 315's on their factory 10" rear wheels, most showing great results. Since our wheels are 10.5" (12.5mm wider), would one see a benefit from going R888R 325/30/20 (instead of 315)?

For comparison, my current 305 SC2's are have a load rating of 103y. 315 R888R's are 101Y, and 325's are 102Y - thus wouldn't the bulge be similar across all 3 widths?

You could run it, I don't know if it would fit without rubbing the quarter panels but it will work on a 10.5" wheel, is it recommended, no. I run the 315/30/20 NT01 which is pretty much the same tire as the R888R and i get great traction fully modded keeping them below 32psi. The 325 just might be overkill unless you have upgraded turbos and are over 700whp

Great feedback, thx. How much warming up do they require to grip? 32PSI cold? Would love pictures if you have them handy

They will grip hot or cold better than any other non R compound tire and they're not bad in the rain, you just have to drive more cautiously. I haven't lost the rear end or hydroplaned on them over the last two winters. I run them 29psi cold on nitrogen so they don't get over 32psi when they warm up.

Great data, thank you. My SC2’s have proven to be disappointing. Not nearly as good of a benefit over PSS or PS4 as I was hoping.

Except they coincidentally left our dry start acceleration and the Trofeo and R888R would have been at the top of that list. The problem with our cars is the low end torque that spins any tire in 1st and 2nd gears, 3rd even at 60mph+ if you are tuned with FBO and that's where drag radials really shine over street tires.

My hope is this 315 R888R’s are considerably better than my 305 SC2’s. I’d like to get the boost/gear limitations down to 20% 1st only. Not sure if this is reasonable or not...

Right now I’m 40% 1st, 20% 2nd and it will hook after warmed up or driving around for a few miles. BM3, DP, and drop in filters are only mods

You have the mods that produce the most power, a cold air intake and exhaust are more for sound on this car as people have achieved over 800whp on the stock intake and stock exhaust. The R888R or Nitto NT01 (basically the same tire) will completely change your cars traction capabilities like night and day.
