I succeeded ID5 / ID6 and touch screen retrofit (bmw F06 GranCoupe)

EVO,ATM,CarPlay,TouchScreen ...It works perfectly.

So is that a NATIVE ID6 unit?
Do you remember what build date and HW version it had?
Does it also support Gesture Recognition?

The date from the factory is 2017.(f series)
So its ID5.

I use ID6 _ light by coding.

For me, gesture function was unnecessary.

Hi and thanks for the information. Indeed I did the same by coding ID6_light and use it this way. My unit is older and is not touchscreen. I guess it will be hard to find "used" units to retroft dated 2018 as it's a bit too early for that. I agree gesture control also not a priority but if I should ever upgrade then I would try to get both.

I think that you can use the touch screen by code your EVO (ID5).

I have a unit for manufacturing in 2016 for spare and bench(Flashed to the latest firmware)

I could use it when coded it and connecting it to the touch screen.

Or you can use it by flushing to the latest firmware.

code the keyword “ touch ” to all active.

If the icon appears on the left side of the screen,
you can use touch screen.

I thought it's also hardware dependant whether touch screen works or not. But I will check next time I hook up ESYS.

Has anyone tried Samsung (Android) screen mirroring on an ID5 / ID6 unit and can confirm that it works? If yes which APP (from Samsung) are you using?

For traffic i use RTTI from the Connected Drive Services which I find very up-to-date and precise usually. The big downside is as known that it will not show speed cameras / radars as other services/apps may do. But apart from this I say for me RTTI works perfectly.

I am trying to screen mirror my A5 2017 Galaxy smartphone in order to see what apps I can use and how the whole thing interacts. I first need to check which coding options are needed for that to work.

Tested it with an old android tablet.
I used APP called screen mirroring.

Japanese units are equipped with traffic information as standard via FM(VICS)

It presents real time traffic information, disaster information, speed regulation, torrential downpour area (displayed in red).

Thanks I tried a few apps but can you specify by whom that app is since many are called by the generic "screen mirroring".

thanks. Here in the USA, RTTI is not free. After the first 4 years, you have to pay to get RTTI on idrive. The reason I ask is whether BMW will still recognize and register a new idrive hardware and software and provide all the connecteddrive services to a car that wasn't built with it. Anyone in the US that has a 2014 car that did this upgrade should have an answer, but I haven't seen any US owners confirm.

In Europe RTTI is free for the first 3 years if you have the Connected Drive Services Package and after it expires you have to pay for a subscription. In terms of retrofit I have never searched further as both my cars came with the full Connected Drive Services package. I have read that on the old CIC system it was possible to use RTTI without a subscription by using the own phone connection to hook up. Here in case you have not read it.

This is all similar in the us. NBT RTTI is subscription service after 4 years. My question is, if you retrofit id6, will BMW still allow you to buy RTTI?

I dont know about your country,
However, I can register on the connecteddrive site with this retrofit,
and I can use all paid contents.

① Write an ATM CPS to the unit using an inexpensive adapter
※ connecteddrive contents is available but only map update impossible

② Match VIN of ATM and FSC VIN of unit
※All connecteddrive functions can be used.

Correct and the reason you need to do that is that otherwise both Remote Services and Concierge Services will no longer work. It would be like having a "crippled" unit.... Thus if I did this upgrade on my F32 car for example I would certainly want all paid services to work as they do know including the above-mentioned ones.

In my country
Used units may be obtained cheaply.

My total cost is about $600 with all DIY done.

If you have CIC installed, flash to ZGW02
Or you need a retrofit adapter.
Other complicated wiring work will be necessary.
