According to your VIN (when decoded) your car is equipped with the following:

S223A - Electronic Damper Control (EDC)

BMW also provides as an option the S2VA which is ADAPTIVE DRIVE.

You can read about the main differences here:

https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1253862

https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=696763

Depending on the models you might find VDC (variable damper control) as a name and option. When reading the 1st posts of either threads I think it becomes a little clearer. Basically Adaptive Drive provides Active Roll Stabilization and Dynamic Damping Control in one.

For decoding your VIN you can check this out:

Adaptive drive is super rare. At least in 2015, which was the year I was looking at. Mine just happens to have it because it was some sort of demo. Never saw another convertible with it.

Mine has it. It's a very rare option as it was around $3,500 if I recall - basically gives you active roll stabilization, which actively counters the roll forces in corners and also counters squat and dive. It's a great option for a car that weighs over 4,300 lbs. It was marketed in the US as "Adaptive Drive."

I was pretty surprised when I was shopping how few 6s have adaptive cruise. I thought it would have been an option box checked pretty often in a $100,00+ car. But no. Maybe because people don't usually use convertibles as highway cruisers. Or maybe 2015 was "early" and more people buy it now. I don't know. But the number of 2015 convertibles with it that I saw was exactly zero.

Mine is an XDrive model and has the option S2VA (Adaptive Drive). And yes the Xdrive models only come with hydraulic steering. That is also the reason why you will not find an Xdrive model with the Integral Active Steering option.

Mine is also XDrive with adaptive drive. The power steering fluid reservoir on these cars is the largest I have ever seen.

The dealer told me the steering is electro hydraulic so in a way it is electric..... Changing modes from comfort to sport does appear to make the steering a bit stiffer right ? you guys feel that too right it cant be just me but servotronic affects that im assuming which is standard on the 6 right

on a side note i have a 2019 x5 loaner right now and boy oh boy does this zf8 shift much faster than the zf8 in my 640i. I didnt know they improved the shifts speeds that much its pretty damn fast! Idrive 7.0 is a damn dream car play is now full screen. Makes me want to atleast update my idrive to 6.0 from my old 4.2
