640i GC quad exhaust tips look

Toying with the idea of replacing existing tips with Y tips to get a quad exhaust look.
Basically this is the look I want.

Anybody did this? I suppose there would be some cutting of the bumper involved as well...
Or this entire carbon fiber piece could be installed separately? That diffuser looks so good!

Newb here. Any step in the right direction is welcome.

While not specifically for the 640, this was the best info I could find on the subject. https://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1424300

It looks like you just need the M6 diffuser and some short Y tips.

Photo above has the M6 rear bumper...don't think quad would work with stock 640i bumper.

Thanks doggboy. I read the entire thread and it does not seem trivial even for 650i due to not enough room. Otherwise tips just stick too much outside.

M6 diffuser, yes. That's an added bonus Was looking at eBay and they can be had for only couple hundred bucks.

It would be great if someone on this forum already did it so we know the parts to order!

Yeah, i went down the quad tip rabbit hole and decided it wasnt worth it unless i could find a good deal on some m6 mufflers. I dont want to do all the hacking of the exhaust he did. It can be done, but it is probably easier just to buy axle back exhaust.

Hello fellas!

So the mod is very simple... if you have MSport bumper then all you need is:

- m6 diffuser of your liking, yes eBay is most likely your best bet. Or on the forum
- m6 mufflers they are plug and play
- tips of your liking, again eBay is the go to. I got mine from Alibaba. There's a complete write on here somewhere with the link to the tips if you are looking for that style

My 6 has M6 comp mufflers which I found locally on Craigslist, opened the valves, and got the tips you see. There are tons of m5 or m6 mufflers for sale on the forum you can use either or.

This is how it turned out!

Correct it's the OEM MSport bumper and there is NO cutting. All you have to do is replace your diffuser with an M6 one. That's it!

You are my hero F06msportmia !! Booty of your 6-ers looks bad-ass.

Any difference in sound? I know 640i GC do not have the flap that opens in sport mode like on 650/m6. Is that part of your new setup? I'd leave it open all the time anyway, LOL

Now I need to talk to my mechanic and hope he doesn't charge me too much

If I recall the exact cost was:
-$400 mufflers
-$275 tips
-$200 diffuser
-$150 diffuser install, polyurethaned it to the bumper. It means it's NEVER coming off!
-$200 muffler install

Thanks bro! There is thread that I started on the Phat Buts and there are some nice setups.

Difference in sound YES, and the valve is always open. The sound for me is perfect, once the car warms up it's just enough, no drone, and not riced out. Also doesn't break the bank.

Awesome stuff!
Two questions:

"once the car warms up it's just enough" - does that mean it has a brutal cold start?
"polyurethaned it to the bumper" - any specific reason to do this? This seems like a pretty painless install job so I would feel great knowing that the next owner of my car can easily reverse as this (somewhat savage IMHO) look probably isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Tips and diffuser seem to be easy to find as they can be bought directly off eBay, but I guess I have to be patient for the M6 mufflers...

Answers!
1. NO, it's not brutal. Brutal would be muffler delete

2. YES, the eBay diffuser on fitment is 7.5 out 10 and it doesn't stay on as if it were OEM or some $1000 diffuser. So it had to be polyurethaned on. I'm not worried or even consider what the next owner wants to do. If the next owner doesn't like it then he probably shouldn't have bought the car.

Would this work? It's basically that one piece and nothing else is required, right?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Duraflex-AM...3/283000895028

Thanks so much for the help so far.

Looks like that one needs to be painted, etc. But wondering about the shape. Other than the mufflers and quads, that should be it.

All others ones that I am seeing are carbon. Nothing is carbon on the car so far, so would try to avoid it. Whatever happened to glossy black... I thought black is the new chrome?

I was looking at the same one ..found it alot cheaper ..but my concern is the fitment. my local bmw dealer has the OEM piece for 220 $.( well minus the center diffuser ) so mite just go that route.. can get the center part down the road or get the OEM piece thats like 35 bucks

Really, $220? Do you have a part number? What I've been seeing was 1k+.
