probably should do an oil change, you're only like 30k overdue

Changing oil is for wimps. I like it thick and gooey - the engine runs very quiet that way.

It's been almost a year now into my 650i ownership, currently at 73k miles. Biggest issues so far were leaky coolant lines at the T connectors beside the charge pipe and turbo inlet. I would recommend taking a look as I wouldn't have seen the leak by the turbo inlet unless I was changing out the inlet. Complete bitch to change out just the T since there's not much room and the oem will crumble and break.

I purchased a 2014 650i F13 coupe with 19000 miles over a year ago and it's been perfect up until now 12000 miles later. Literally zero problems over about 14 months.

Anyone had the high pressure fuel pump replaced under warranty? It seems BMW is covering it for 10 years/120,000 miles so it must be a problem with a lot of people.

Mine started running rough and getting mis-fires last week on all 8 cylinders. Checked the codes yesterday and other than the misfires I'm getting 11AD02, 11B401, 11B214, 11B801, 11B70, 11B213 all relating to fuel pressure being too low. It could be the in tank supply pump but I'm guessing it's the HPFP. My first thought was to change the fuel filter, but was very surprised to learn there is no fuel filter on these models. There is a strainer on the supply pump and that's it.

I have an appointment at the dealer Friday to diagnose it and hopefully get it covered under warranty. Just wondering if anyone else has had either fuel pump go south?

BMW650Fan,

Don't go in empty handed. Service managers can be pricks and some will deny that the pump is covered under a special extended warranty.

Go to this thread and download and print the pertinent documents that I posted there:

Thanks I had already found the document and confirmed with the service advisor that it was covered when i made the appointment.

She said it had to be diagnosed as the problem, they wont just swap it if the pump is not bad.

I'll take the docs with me just in case.

I did one that was leaking. I used silicone hose and a brass T and oem style clamps. Still need to do the other two but only this one was starting to spit

2014 650i w/ 61, +

We love our 650i. Pushing over 61k now and other than eating a little oil and needing to add some from time to time, it has been a wonderful driver

I've got a 2013 650i GC with about 73K miles on it (bought it with 55K miles). Only issues I've had so far is CE Light came on, O2 sensor and LDP needed to be replaced.

Everything else has been regular maintenance (oil changes, new tires, new brake pads, sensors and rotors). Love the car but not sure if I'll hold on to it once my extended warranty ends in 2022.

Seems to be 650i have the most issues. I don't see much problems for the 2014 640i.

I just purchased a 2014 640i M Sport with 52k for 22k. The quote I got that is almost bumper to bumper warranty is $4900 5yr/60k miles. Covers bushings and seals/leaks. I was surprised to read modifications are allowed. I figured I would take it in for every single problem I had. 5 years and a long time also. I wonder if BMW would allow me to have a loaner car for free? If not, it's $30 for 8 hours and $130 max based on the contract.

If you guys where in my shoes, would you get the extended warranty? There's cheaper options by $900 but this was the best bang for the money based on the options. I can cancel with a prorated price or seller for a higher price. It would look more appealing with the warranty.

I have had my 2015 650xi GC for just over two years and I have had virtually no issues whatsoever and the car currently has just over 67K miles on it.

I had purchased a 3 year extended warranty for peace of mind when I bought the car but, looking back now, I should have saved my money as these types of warranties are not a good investment. When my warranty runs out in April of 2022, and if my car is running the way it does now, I will keep it and drive this beautiful machine for years to come.

My car looks and drives as if it is just a few months old with not one squeak or rattle to be heard. It is by far the best car I have ever owned.

I don't buy warranties on anything ever. I'm way ahead of the game, so if my car breaks I'll fix it.

I agree 100%. Me too.

But there is so much fear with BMW's that a failure will put you in the poor house that most feel compelled to buy a warranty. And that's a large reason why I was able to buy a three year old 650 ix that had 15,000 miles on it for half the price of a new one.

I'm sure there will many here to stoke that fear. Please stoke.

I got a 3rd party extended warranty on my 2013 650 vert. for $4100. I have 10 mo left on the 3yr deal. I've already got back little over $3000 on covered work for oil pan leaks and bad injector. So I have 10 mo to get the other $1000 back to be even.

In the spring of 2021, thinking of taking a 5000 mi cross country trip and can't decide whether to take the 650 or not. Already have had one drive train shut down about 3 mo ago, don't want to go thru that again out in the Utah desert.

I have 37,000mi on the car, love the looks and with the top down, nothing better, but after 10 mo I probably will be looking around for something else. Looking at 2018 640 verts or Audi A7

The people selling these warranties know what the probabilities of fairlure are. Most likely you will lose that last $1000. It's called profit. While there are exceptions, the people that make out usually just recover the price of the warranty.

I also have a 460 hp 2017 Corvette that I drive the same way. I hate repair bills. (I also have a snarky sense of humor so take the last two posts with a grain of salt)

In all seriousness I do tend to baby the 650 somewhat when it comes to really getting on the gas. Last time I got heavy on the pedal a few months ago, it went into DTM mode and fouled an injector and plug.

My 2013 650 Gran Coupe is now at 126K miles, without any major issues.
Do all maintenance myself, so far biggest repairs were Flex-discs, front driveshafts (probably wear faster because car is lowered), rear shock absorbers, and front suspension parts.

Last week-end swapped engine mounts and trans mount.

Car has been tuned from 50K miles, now with Bootmod3 stage 1, with NGK plugs and new coils.

Still feels strong and smooth as ever.
