Early Model F13/F12: Still as good as the new ones?
Hi guys,
Been on car search engine sites as of late searching for that end all be all car, and I'm thinking an F13 M6 is my top choice. I noticed that early model year M6s (13-14) are starting to come down in price finally into the low 40k range. I just want to ask owners what they're take is on the early model M6s from 13 and 14. I've had bad luck in the past with introductory year cars on a new platform so I'm a little weary. Is it worth saving up a little more to get a newer M6 or are the 13-14 pretty similar to the 15-16 for example? Also any issues with the introductory year models? Thinking of posting this into the F10 forum as well for some insight.

The S63T motor was in the M5 before it worked its way into the M6, landing in he convertible in '12 and making it to the Coupes starting in 13, so it's not a first year by any stretch. So far as I understand it, reports are that the engine is highly reliable, but given most M-cars are not daily drivers, the number of high mileage examples are not as plentiful as, say, a 328, so the long term data is not quite available yet.
Hopefully others will have more insight, because I'm curious about this myself. |

Major differences are cosmetic... such as headlights or the newer iDrive system... I have a 13 and didn't really care about the few things that were different... 23K miles on the odometer with no issues

I have a 13 with 61k miles. I would not own without a warranty. Never left me stranded, but have had various issues:
1. Oil consumption 2. Seat wire frayed shorted out seat so would not move 3. Oil leaks in turbo lines and oil leak in timing chain cover 4. Mass airflow sensor fouled with oil. Newer NBT idrive system has larger controller, better software and sharper screen. Can't easily replace steering wheel with sport wheel (have to replace airbag)
