Just a bump as I've just done this and would recommend it to everyone. I figure having this thread at the top again might allow more people to see it

I pulled the whole ASD box out of the trunk and secured the harness. 2 minute job and no more fake noise.

I'm unsure how I like the ASD removal. On the one hand, I hate the idea of the ASD, but on the other hand, now I have a ride much more refined and removed than I think I'd like.

Undecided at this point. How I would characterize the difference is that it is no longer "boomy" inside.

I'm going to do the muffler flap mod today, do a few more days driving around and then make a decision whether I want to plug the ASD back in.
Curious where you ended up with ASD removal and the muffler flap mod?

I kept the ASD off and performed the flap mod. My long term assessment is that the ASD will stay off but I'm thinking of flipping the flap back to its original position. The flap mod only creates a high volume startup. The car immediately quiets down after it idles for a few seconds.

Check out the DIY thread here for how to perform tasks. https://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1444547

Thanks for the link.

So the flap mod didn't affect the exhaust sound during normal driving, only startup?

Correct. It's a lot of hours spent for minimal benefit. The flaps open via the pressure valve anyways when you drive. I believe they close when you are light throttle (such as cruising on the highway)

Did unplugging the module affect the ambient lights in the car?

no. You can adjust the ambient lighting via coding too.
