This whole thread is amazing. Shows the power of M branding. People aspire to have one - almost like all the folks putting Apple sticker on their PC laptops.

I struggled to get a good shot but here is an elusive M335 xdrive. Also had the pin stripe package.

Honestly I personally think we should be happy with those people putting ///M merchandising badges on their cars (with respect to their proper badging). Of course not everyone thinks this way, but I can imagine the most of them buying and sticking the emblem somehow having respect for the real M cars/M brand and/or (diehard) fans not able to buy these awesome machines.

I'm not talking about people 'up'badging or all the other obvious fake badges of course

I think AMG has it worse. I always see an older gen E300 AMG or S500 AMG with an added second exhaust with a cutout that looks like they used a Dremel.

I've seen this often for some reason. Theres a newer M series near me with nothing but the M badge.

Cool Worst Auto Cross Mod Ever

I did not get a picture because of where I was, but this weekend I had gone Auto Crossing and while I was in staging, I noticed a Z3 from the front and it had a ///M Logo attached to the front grill in a similar way you see folks attach a BMW-CCA logo to the grill. I thought it a little unusual, so I walked around the rest of the car and found two pipes on the left and the Z3 moniker. It was not a Z3M I was hoping to see, after my recent post here of a fake one, I thought I would actually see one. I wanted to talk to the guy, but he was not around, and since I was staging I soon lost interest. He left after the next run, the grommet the accelerator linkage from the pedal passes through in the firewall had failed. Apparently the ///M badge in the grill was not a good MOD.....

My stage 3 tuned 2011 335d is pushing 400hp and 620lb-ft, but even with the power, it wont get an M3 badge until it has M3 or better suspension and handling. Stock suspension with 265/30r19's in the front and 285/30r19's in the rear it handles like a dream so i cant wait until the M3 suspension parts are added. Also needs M3 mirrors or its pointless. Fender vents i can live without, but you need the M3 side mirrors otherwise you're wasting your time with a badge. PM me if anyone has e90 M3 sedan mirrors for sale.

For anyone wondering why i didn't just get an M3; i wanted a diesel sports car, but there is no diesel M3, so i'll build my own.
