I might be beating a dead horse, but the info I've found is conflicting.

What's the general consensus on aftermarket tips that slide over and clamp on the stock muffler pipes on a 640? Absolutely nothing is labeled as being for a 640 so I'm having to go off the inlet size. Mine are 2.75" or 70mm without the stock tip. There isn't much to choose from in that size for sure. Any info and pics of ones that work?

I got some carbon fibre ones for my 640d off eBay and they fit straight on. The old tips pull off and these slide on and bolt up tight. They look really nice and really improved the look. The inner diameter was 68-71 mm and they fit perfect.
The seller on eBay was Jasmia09 and I went for the shinny stainless steel inner with gloss carbon fibre outer. They also have the M logo etched on the top. Very pleased with them and the quality is great. Picture does not do it justice.
Cheers

That does look great and I prefer that style. I checked that seller, but they only had a few and not that particular one. I came across what appears to be an identical set (70mm inlet), but black on the inside. I figure that would kind of mask the inside pipe with it being black from soot too. I'd prefer not to do any cutting like rasa did.

Yeah they are more or less the same. When you fit them your exhaust slides into the new tip which is sleeved so you do not see any of the original exhaust pipe. It is hard to explain but when it’s fitted it looks like a factory fitted item. If you look at the third from last picture in your link you can see where it slides into the inner sleeve of the tip. I am so pleased with the difference they made. I have taken a better picture of mine to help explain how they look.

Oh yeah I see how it's split inside so the pipe will slide under the "baffled" part. Even better. Yours looks great.

They do make a massive difference especially when they are clean haha. The old tips are easy to pull off with a bit of a wiggle and a tug. Took me ten minutes to fit mine.
Cheers

Im getting close to doing something about the wimpy rear end of the 640i.

Want to go with m6 diffuser and hopefully with these clampable 650i style tips below with an ID of 67mm.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281555149472

Please have a look, do you think i would be able to fit these to my 640i without cutting off the pipe? Would it stick out too much? Where exactly does the exhaust pipe terminate behind the diffuser?

I dont want to cut any pipework... want it to be reversible... Hence this route.

Have a look at this item as well. Im guessing the pipe will show in the middle if i fit something like this?
