I've been part of the forums for a while now, and have loved being part of the community. I've had other BMWs including a 2006 325i, a 2012 328i, and currently own a 2015 535i. Yesterday, I finally purchased what is essentially my dream car, an Alpina B6 Gran Coupe. I figured I'd introduce myself in this section of the forums now.
When I saw a B6 for the first time at a showroom sometime around 2015 it immediately became a goal of mine to make it my own one day. The more I researched the vehicle and learned how special it was, the more certain I was about it. After years of waiting, saving, and researching, I finally made this dream a reality. I refreshed my online search again Thursday to see if anything new had been listed and found a used 2016 B6 near Chicago. I made some phone calls and did my research. Everything looked and felt right. Friday I flew out to Chicago, got a hotel for the night, and immediately arrived at the dealer Saturday morning to see the car in person. Everything checked out and I signed the paperwork. I'm now awaiting shipment from the dealer to me. I don't think the reality will really set in until it's sitting in my very own driveway. Once I get some time to get some good photos, I'll share more. For now, here's an iPhone shot. EDIT: Added some better/more recent photos |

Ditto...congrats on the purchase. Too bad you couldn't drive her back home.

Luckily I'm working in Mass for the next week or so and having her shipped somewhere nearby. I've got a plan where I should be able to drive her all the way back to Florida and really get a good feel for her 😎 |

congratulations ! its very elegant isn't it. I've always liked the Alpina body treatment on our cars. Makes an already superb looking car even more so. The wheels are divine although diabolical to keep clean I bet!!!! lol anyway its part of the joy of a nice car, the cleaning and looking after it. welcome and congratulations on a very special car.

Yeah I'm planning on either putting a ceramic coating or a quality wax on the wheels to help. Definitely looking forward to my first time really going through and doing a thorough cleaning of the whole car. |

Which dealer was this? I have an alert set up for B6's and didn't see this one.
I flew down to NC to pick up my B6 and drove it back. Was a lot of fun. Congrats on the Alpina. |

So here's a bit of an update, lots going on.
The dealership was originally supposed to ship my car to my cousins dealership in Connecticut for me to pick up and drive back to Florida. Well the first truck broke down before pickup, and the second truck was delayed… All good, just a little frustrating. Fast forward to the evening before delivery and come to find out the dealership screwed up and my car was on a truck just getting into Florida for delivery at my home… Had to scramble to get someone to meet the driver and accept delivery. The dealer apologized and paid for the complete shipping cost. So the plan didn't go perfectly, but at least the car ended up at my house safe and sound and I ended up with free shipping and less miles on the car. I end up getting back home a few days later and everything seems to check out. Absolutely love the car. I had noticed a slight vibration during my original test drive and assumed it was just a tire needing balancing. So I went to my trusty wheel guy here in Fort Myers and was informed I had two wheels that had pretty impressive bends, but fixable. I had him correct the issue and rebalance all four tires. It's smooth as butter now He told me that if I drove much further after delivery I would probably have permanently made the tires out of round. He recommends I contact the dealer and send them the invoice and ask if they will help with some of the expense. I plan on doing that after taking care of the next issue… The last issue I'm currently facing is trying to get the car registered in Florida. The dealer told me I just had to have one form filled out and sent back to them and their title agent would have it taken care of. Well when I went to my local DMV they said they couldn't complete the form or register the vehicle until they have a copy of the title… So I contacted the bank and they are supposed to be taking care of that.. I'm going to follow up tomorrow and see where that process is at now… I've never purchased a vehicle out of state and this makes me want to steer clear of the hassle in the future. This is also my first time purchasing a BMW from somewhere other than a BMW dealership. Overall I absolutely love my car and don't regret anything at all. I'm just very frustrated with my experience so far. I'm planning on doing a detailed cleaning of the new car over the next few days and will post updates and photos at the point. |

while not a horror story per say... I've heard of much worse.... its all just the faff around that slightly tarnishes the new to you experience. As you state the car itself is fine and you love it , it will need a few things for sure our cars are getting on now and not new anymore. I'm staggered the dealer shipped direct to your door without confirming this with you .... wow that would have cost a fair bit!
anyway you have your lovely B6 and you've got a few irritating things fixed so that's good ! enjoy it , 2 small pieces of advice .... only use the best quality fuel you can find ( here in Australia that's 98 RON I'm not sure what your equivalent is in the US ) and regular regardless of mileage oil changes. |
