Over the last week I changed the plugs (NGK Iridium 97506), changed the oil and filter, both air filters, the cabin filter, cleaned both MAF sensors and had my local BMW dealer top up both coolant reservoirs (they also gave me a half filled jug of BMW coolant to have if I ever need to top it up again).
The car is definitely running smoother, faster, breathing a whole lot better and even the sounds are more intense and inspiring. I guess it is true. Proper maintenance is definitely important |

I followed bm3 recommendation: https://bootmod3.atlassian.net/wiki/.../pages/2558945 97506 plugs at .022-.023” gap. Or maybe your coil packs could stand to be replaced as well? After battling wandering misfires and hesitations on past bimmers when I diy’d the plug and coil pack replacements, I’ve decided a while ago that I’ll save myself the trouble, pay a little more, and just always do them all together.

Changed mine a couple weekends ago. Like the other poster said, the most difficult part was getting the air box tubes snaked back into place and connected. The spark plugs and coils were a breeze. I did use a swivel between the extension and spark plug socket for the farthest forward ones, but I don't think it was 100% necessary.

Yeah for the two front cylinders it would've been easier with a swivel, but with an extra extension the tight quarters were mitigated. |
