Comfort Access Keyless Entry
Alright so whenever i'm in my car and a door is open and closed (or closed after starting already) I get the lovely Remote control not detected: Engine start not possible. Remote control may be faulty. See Owner's Manual.
After some google searched it seems this is a very common problem with BMW and have yet to see an actual fix for it. Now my bigger issue is that my keyless entry works about 30% of the time, regardless of how close I put the key to the door handle. From what I tried the driver's side is about 30% and the rest never, but may need more testing on that. BMW dealership said it may just need to be reprogrammed, if not then a new antenna would be needed. Of course I'm not about to dish out $1700 for them to give it a go. I have ordered a new key fob battery to try that as an initial troubleshoot even though I doubt it's that since the key fob buttons work fine from a distance. Has anyone by chance experienced this or have on ideas on the matter? Thank you. |

No issues with my M6GC but I have had some similar issues with my wife's 550. The last time we ended up replacing one of the comfort access/ door lock actuator assembly, on one occasion it was the FOB battery and on another occasion we had a blown fuse.
Seems when there is an issue with the system functioning properly when one of the other modules has some sort of malfunction. I think you can isolate the problem by unplugging on of the door locks. If you decided to DIY replace the actuator or handle buy it from fcp euro as you'll likely end up replacing it again if you own the car long enough.

My comfort access stopped working on the drivers door, I assumed it was a sensor so I ordered part number 51217231931 for $140 on eBay. Dealer wanted about $490 for the part. My local BMW specialist put it on for $160 and it all works fine now. 👍🏾

Have you tried unplugging a handle and testing yet?
