m6 exhaust snap crackle pop?? where is it?
So I was able to put quite a few miles on a new to me 2013 M6 this weekend, including 155 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Tail of the Dragon.... I'm curious if there is something different with the tune or exhaust on the M6 vs M5 as the M5's I've driven and heard always had a much more vocal off throttle pots and pans rattle. The M6 didn't pop once. Maybe I just wasn't winding it out enough, but even S3 downshifts > 5k had nothing... And yes, Sport + mode across the board. Don't get me wrong, super happy with the sound from factory exhaust but this seems like it must be more of a tuning thing? Decell fuel mixture? Am I crazy?

You will need a tune to achieve what you are after -- Bootmod3 / BM3 tunes allow you to configure the amount of burble/crackle which is nice. I believe there is three settings, Off--Mild--Aggressive. I haven't gone to BM3 yet but plan to in the next month or so and add the mild option.

I guess it depends on your definition of 'mild mild' crackle — I have the competition package mufflers on my car with the valves held open by hose clamps, and I notice a very slight, muffled burble when downshifting at low RPM's (for example: manual downshift in 2nd @1,200rpm to 1st in a parking lot with the windows down where the wind noise wouldn't drown it out, that's how subtle it is)

I don't think Bootmod3 has adjustable burbles for the N63TU and S63TU platforms. Installing downpipes and opening the stock valves on the mufflers will make a huge difference in burbles.

Yes it does the burbles are fully adjustable in Bootmod3 ,my friend has it on his M6,it gets very annoying after awhile he removed it ,I like just a little pop here and there with a little flutter off throttle

bm3 user manual and update logs show no adjustable burble feature for N63TU and S63TU and states that it's not available. I do know they have mild and aggressive burble maps. You'd have to purchase the map pack for an extra $150 to be able to "adjust" the burble through switching maps.

It's not adjustable as such but there are 3 different maps you can flash the car with between none, mild and aggressive. It's not like the M3/M4 where you can use a slider to adjust it to exactly what you want.
On my M6 I find mild is too mild and aggressive is too aggressive which is annoying. |
