I was looking for my first car and drove a 2006 330xi. I ended up with a 2007 Lexus IS 250 AWD. Luckily, I ended up working for a BMW dealership 4 years later and I finally got a 3 series after all these years

my first bmw was an Alpine white e36m3 - still miss that raw feel of this car.
Then I got my e21 which is totally different. Its cool because its an old BMW but thee36 defined that bmw drivers car for me.
I had an e53 x5 with m62 and even though it was an suv it still had that bmw feel.
Now I have f32 440i and its a great car yet it lack that raw feel. Its way more refined and isolated from the environment. It is much better daily tho.

First BMW i drove was a Hartge E21, the car was stuck in the garage for more than 5 years or so, Inflated the tires, replaced the battery then filled it with fresh gas. Smells like a box of crayons inside and the smell of foul gasoline coming from the tail pipes. You can feel the engine coughing then smoothes out. God I miss that car…

Mid 70's BMW Bavaria. It was my girlfriends car so I don't remember the exact year.

For me, my parents bought a 2003 325i back in '04. First ever BMW in our family, sort-of our introduction into middle class territory. I wasn't of age to drive it, but I still had a few short runs with it. Funny enough, it's still in our family 14 years later.

Damn fantastic car in every single way.

Mine was a 1987 325iS, still have it to this day. My best friend sold it to me in 1997 so he could buy a pristine E30 M3. He paid 13K for it at the time, we thought he was nuts. Turns out he is not so nuts (still has it).

First bmw was also my first manual tranny, a 2003 330Ci. Practiced on a Nissan Sentra where clutch was nowhere near the bimmer and stalled for 15 minutes trying to leave the dealership.. worst and best day of my life lol..

Talking

5 series, 2014 model fully spec’d. Lil bro bought it and since that day I just loved the brand. Bought myself an austin yellow M4 f83 in 2018… absolute machine. Got rid when I started a family. Now have a X1 F83 2018. Miss the M4 dearly!

A 2018 M5 last summer, shopping for an upgrade of my daily driver since my job change handed me a company car for commuting miles, I could justify a nicer person aluse car that won't be "used up" so quickly. It was all the good things I expected it to be, but just not as satisfying on the luxury end of the scale that I wanted (mostly pertaining to the rear seats).

I ended up getting a 2019 M760i a few months ago, It ticked every box on my list, and then some. The M5 was worth testing, I'm glad I had that experience to compare to. Similar price point.

I had a 1998 323 cabriolet that I bought new and kept for 13 years. Loved it. Definitely a nostalgia-car for me. I've always considered scratching that itch by picking up an E36 M3 cabrio...

A 1985 325i in summer 1986. It was owned by a friend of my mother's who volunteered to teach me to drive when she chickened out after having a terrible experience teaching my brother.. It was a lot more fun to learn on than my mom's 1976 Plymouth Volare (3-on-the-tree manual...my brother burned out the clutch 3 times).

I didn't drive another BMW until I got to take a spin in my boss's 1999 M5 shortly after he got it. I've been chasing my memory of the M5 experience ever since.

a 1978 320i back in the early 80s

A friend of the family had moved up from AZ and needed her car driven back. She flew me down, and off I went with jugs of water in the trunk in case the coolant sys went.

I loved that car, twisties in Northern CA. The way the whole thing read the road.

In the summer of 1990 I did a Skip Barber course at Bridgehampton in a 1990 M3. That car was a beast on the track.
