The location of the glovebox' USB port...is identified with a big ol' arrow in the owners manual. If you have one there...it will be in the opening that the arrow is pointing to. The owners manual also gives info as to what its for and what NOT to insert into it ( I had to crop that info out of the pic to meet size requirement).

I recall reading somewhere that the earlier CIC iDrive system had the additional USB port for system updates and that sort of thing, but I think it wasn't to be used for storage devices.
The last ones have another USB port between the cupholders. This started around April 2016 production. You can see it in the below video. Note that my car is an RHD M6 and was made in September 2016 and doesn't have it. But the Vert in the video below is an LHD M6 made in April 2016 and has it. I've since seen an RHD M6 GC in NZ that has the extra USB port but that was made in 2017. Note that the lid of the cupholders closes basically flush with that port and due to where it is I think you'd have a good chance of breaking cables there too or if you used a USB flash drive it'd need to be something like the Sandisk Cruzer Micro. |

I can confirm this is correct. My 2011 CIC idrive has the glovebox USB port for updates and transferring mp3 files to the hard drive.
