650 Sport + mode .... what an addiction!
So I know you will all think wtf when I tell you today was the first time I have tried out Sport + in my Shark. I’ve tried sport tc etc but never thought to hold it down and put into Sports +. Well it’s really unfortunate I have discovered this.... the addiction is real"...... ffs where on earth have I been. What a noise , what a wicked side these cars have ..... I was telling a mate that I’m going to call it exhaust fart mode. Clearly this is not everyday mode but as my car has sat isolated like me for nearly 2 weeks not being driven and today was such a beautiful day I threw caution to the wind and went for a drive. What fun! Windows down blue sky and sports + mode on all day! I was actually buzzing when I got home. Is there no end to the delight these cars are!
*** I did take almighty pleasure in cutting up 2 smug Tesla’s.... while Fleetwood Mac was belting out Tusk through my Harmon Kardon sound system.... yes I know I’m now ‘that BMW driver’ but I did indicate ! |

Couldn’t tell from the Aussie lingo...but hopefully you also had the gear shift lever pushed over into the S/M gate as well.
The Sport+ driving experience mode changes the suspension & steering and turns off ASC (engine throttle reduction + reduces DSC (dynamic stability control...which allows more wheel spin)...and when you push the gear shift lever over into the “S” (sport) gate...it selects the most aggressive transmission shift pattern...so selecting both

The gear shift lever’s SPORT mode is different than the SPORT driving experience mode. If you just press the gear shift lever over into the sport/manual gate...the transmission shift pattern changes without including any suspension or steering affects. I was referring (in my post above) to combining the driving experience mode button selection along with the gear shift lever “sport” selection which throws everything (in regards to sport) into the bucket.
Here’s a character from the F30 forum that shows some of the differences between the “driving experience modes” (Eco-Pro/Comfort/Sport/Sport+) and what some of the mapping is for the engine/transmission/steering/suspension when either of the driving modes are selected...as well as if you have the gear shift lever in D/DS/M (drive/drive-sport/manual). Unfortunately the F30 doesn’t have the Comfort+ driving experience mode...so there’s no reference to it...but the other modes and transmission selection can be extrapolated as to what at the engine/tranny/suspension/steering settings/changes are:

ahhh yes the shift lever was certainly put into manual or sports position Qsilver7. This is what surprised me most, the rear wheel spin and ever so slight drifting around sharp corners..... I don't think id use this in the wet though. Fun indeed and my god they take off in this mode. Thanks for the graph too that's very informative! |
