LED Door Projectors

So I was at the dealer today and they had these really cool LED door projectors on display in the parts department that project the M logo onto the ground when you open the door. I loved them! They offered them to me for $156.00 and said that they’d install them for free. Well I found them online for $115.00

I can’t imagine that there is much to the installation, they all say ‘plug and play.’

Here’s my question: Should I pony up for the OEM units or pay MUCH less for some after market ones? I’ve seen them for as low as $14.95.

My rule of thumb is usually: Buy Good; Buy Once. And the OEM units come with a two year warranty. How say you?

I bought eBay non-genuine ones, $24 for 4, M sport logo, have been installed for 6 months, no issues and crystal clear projection. Install is super-easy...

I did these recently and purchased them on amazon. I think it was less than $20 for a set of 4. Very easy install, took less than 1 minute per door, all you need is a small flat head screw driver. They look great and are crystal clear.

I do wish I'd gone with the M Logo so I'll probably purchase those too. If anyone has a pic of them installed I'd love to see it.

I got some for my girl's Audi for like $15. They work fine i wouldn't pay that much.
They get a little blurry on the far end, but not really a big issue plus she doesn't notice

Maybe it’s just me, but I have a hard time justifying saving a few bucks on a non-OEM part on a 90k car.

They also run MUCH cooler than the stock lights with incandescent bulbs.

For me it ia a non-critical part, so if it fits and performs it is fine. I wouldnt use made in China brakes or turbos, but a small light on the bottom of the door...I am pretty sure it doesn't require German precision. To each their own though.

I have the cheapo amazon ones. For "3D M" I mean they work, no issues. Can't beat it for 25 bucks for all 4

I picked up a set of the projector LEDs off Amazon as well, though mine were not “3D” and were only $15 for the set of 4. They look great... a little brighter than expected in fact. My only real complaint is that they use a little jumper cable (the connector from the BMW wiring will not fit into the light itself) and I worry that’s there’s no positive lock between the jumper cable and car wiring. I suppose it could vibrate apart over time, but it can be solved with some electrical tape.

Edit: Pics don’t seem to be showing up for some reason. Will try to fix later
