Molykote D 96 lubricant alternative?
Hi guys
Newtis mentions "Molykote D 96" lubricant on several occasions. I have tried to source this online, but it is hugely expensive and can only be bought in large quantities. Does anyone know of suitable alternative? Thank you! |

According to the Molykote D-96 technical datasheet, it is an air-curing dry film lubricant that is safe for paint and plastics. It is manufactured by Dow Corning.
A possible alternative that has similar properties and is readily available in small quantities would be DuPont Teflon Non-Stick Dry-Film Lubricant. http://www.performancelubricantsusa....-lubricant.php |

Sorry for the delay in replying to this post.
I was interested in the lubricant as it is recommended in this procedure in newtis: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...f13/1VnXaeVVq8 |

I guess what I was really wondering was how important it was. If you were doing something like lubing main bearings before reinstalling a crankshaft you might want to follow recommended procedure carefully. If you're putting some grease between a spring and piece of squeaky foam in a seat, any close substitute would seem to be fine without worry.
