Reset brake pad indicator

Hello everyone, need some help and wondering if anyone has ever reset their brake pad indicator using the trip button on the dash. (My car has the 6WB digital dash)

I had the rear brake pads and sensor replaced about 4 months ago through a performance shop because I wanted an aftermarket brand. The guy at the shop forgot to reset the brake pad indicator on the car's service system. He told me and I also read that you can reset it using the trip button on the dash following procedures. However, it always tells me "reset unsuccessful" after trying a few times. Wondering if I'm doing something wrong? or does it require to be plugged in to a service system? (I also have bimmercode with a bluetooth obd2 adapter, wondering if I can use this instead? )
