You just know this car is going to be boring af. Mercedes is doing much better design wise. Never in a million years would I have thought to utter those words but it's true. BMW just doesn't do it for me anymore. Mercedes goes for elegance while BMW doesn't know what it wants. They're a bit in between and being blend. If you look at the 4 series the main talking point is the gril but the rest is nothing exciting. The M3 may be the exception to the rule. I wish BMW would go back to being the sportier alternative to Mercedes. But in the end, money talks and bs walks.

Looks like it has iX style electronic door handles and a new exhaust design.

Truth be told I'd never buy a 7 over an S. MB is king in that space

The 7 used to be the sporty option but it's not sporty at all anymore anyway
I suppose you've never heard of the 205mph Alpina B7?

Wait, so you don't think the S-Class is boring? I get drowsy just looking at it.

Have you seen the EQS and EQE? They look like Kia's.

I really like the latest MB interiors (not the Tesla copycat one) but their vehicles have adopted a bit of a jelly bean look with drooping rear ends. They look okay but the sagging rear end is a turnoff for me.

The 7er isn't that exciting in its looks or drive either frankly, especially the pre-LCI. While a nose job was given to it to "spruce things up" I still would take boring over ugly, whether it be an S-Class or a Pre-LCI 7er.

Now in a definite quandary - my current car is going back in September and with the discount levels on the current 7er, I was looking at potentially sliding into a 745e. However the last two times I have been stung as the new LCI or new version of my current vehicles has been released hence lowering the residual on my car. I plan on keeping the new one for four years, should I stay clear of the 7er and go for something like an 8 series which doesn't seem to be looking at a revision for a while or stick with the current 7er??

I had an Alpina B6 GC hated it. Sold within 2 weeks. These big sleds aren't sporty at all

The B6 GC was horrible handling and sport wise compared to the M6 I had

I would agree the B7 is probably sporty for what it is but still I wouldn't classify it as a sport sedan.

Like I said in this space S class rules and it's proven again and again by double or triple the sales of the 7 with class leading interior

A massive sedan like this if I were in the market would be an S bc I'd want the best

Tesla's interior has poor materials and looks nothing like the new S

BMW is matching old gen MB two screens

Mercedes S Class was and will be always benchmark for luxury in its segment.

Alpina? Doesn't count since it is not a BMW. Alpina is a manufacturer.

On this forum, a BMW will never be exciting from an aesthetics standpoint because everyone here wants BMW to remain the same. From all the dislike on a Tesla-like centre stack, BMW really only has two choices, keep the general layout the same, dash and separate iDrive screen or dual screens. BMW really can't win because people like something for one manufacturer but castrate it with another.

What we should all do is just ditch Tesla, BMW, Mercedes and Audi and all just go to Porsche, right?

ICE-only prototypes with quad exhaust (typically used for the topmodels) but only 735d or 740i on offer in the future? How does this work?

We don't know details about the M750e yet, but this could certainly be it. Also, we do not necessarily know every ICE model yet.

Yeah but the M750e is going to be a PHEV, right? But these prototypes don't have any charging port and no "Hybrid Test Vehicle" lettering. So there must be an ICE-model with more power than a 735d or 740i.
Greetings from Germany.

Yes, that’s a good point, it is expected to be a PHEV like all contemporary BMW hybrids. Theoretically you could test some components of the ICE setup separately, but I don’t know if they ever do.

Either way, a quad exhaust definitely suggests a high performance model. I’ve long wondered whether engine downsizing would eventually lead BMW place the high output I6, typically exclusive to smaller M vehicles, into larger vehicles instead of a V8. I’m not saying that’s what this is, but it’s another possibility.

BMW has a tradition to bring the exhaust of top-end from last generation as low-end in current gen. An example can be 520d/530i F10 with one-side, rounded exhaust to 520d/530i G30 double-sided one with trapezoid-like ends, that looked similar to 550i F10 models (at least in M-sport package).

I would expect new 7er will be act the same here: base model will have exhaust similar to the current M760li. At least to me, that makes sense.

IMO those small features, that today allows you to distinguish top-end model from base model will be one of the selling points for us, the owners, to switch. While owning high-end model, you don't want to be mistaken with newer base model by random bystanders, right
