Thumbs up

A rare Tuesday evening of consumption.
This has to be one of the best glasses of Scotch I have ever had. Absolutely DELICIOUS. Bear in mind, Scotch, Whiskey, Bourbon are NOT my favorite.
Rum and Cognac are. I guess then it's no wonder why I find this so tasty. It is finished in Cognac Casks. 🥃

Well now I have to go find a bottle of this.

I have the Dickel 15y and am really not a fan of Dickel it seems, never seen this bottle though, very nice! That one of the perks?

The Balcones is a solid budget whiskey. I have heard good things about the peated Teeling but am really just hesitant about Irish.... the spots seem to be the only ones I really enjoy.

There are a lot of whiskeys finished in congac, but would probably not be quite the same as a scotch with that finish. If you have not had Armenac, you should definitely try that based on your tastes.

The Balcones Pot Still Whiskey goes for about $90 so it is hardly a "budget whiskey" on this side of the pacific. I have always loved something that is a little different from the norm.

That bottle is under $40 all day around here, and pretty easy to find. Definitely a budget drink in my neck of the woods.

Texas whiskeys will definitely be a little different. They have their own distinct profile!

I wish, guess that's what happens when you dealing with a NYC Agency...but they did pay the invoice in a timely manner.

When I am in Europe, stuff like Lagavulin is 50% the cost it is in the US so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by that. I am surprised their distribution makes it that far, they just recently started having a larger distribution in the US.

Australia is a very small market dominated by Bacardi, Pernod Ricard and of course Diagio. But recently a bunch of smaller distributors have been nudging their way in offering brands like Balcones, Plantation Rum, WhistlePig and Amrut Whisky from India. Oh, and we are heavily taxed on everything, especially petrol and grog.

Murf993 - picked up the Lagavulin 11 (Offerman edition) - was very good.

My neighbour liked it so much he was going to pick up 4 bottles while he still could and distribute them around to his friends. Not sure if it would make it up your way, but just a heads up - definitely limited stock.

Those are just sitting on selves around me. I am also a big fan of it though, very good offering.

Was in CO this past week so had to grab some local goodies.

I noticed that in England, too. Get a double shot of a good Scotch at a bar and it's less than half the price of shot in the US.

One smooth vodka from a local distillery. On ice or straight out of the freezer.
