Is it possible to update the iDrive and center dash media screen system software? I have a 2015 650 GC and see that the 2018 has an updated system that looks more modern and crisp.

It is possible, but isn't just a software update. Search NBT retrofit.

Retrofits to iDrive 7 are not going to be possible any time soon, if ever. It represents the first major hardware form factor change since BMW introduce iDrive. At best you can retrofit to EVO ID6. Your 2015 will have NBT so it should be a straightforward retrofit.

Can but not cheap to replace the idrive... best bet is to live with it. Unless you wanna part with 2800 plus install.

2013 is likely to have CIC. Easy enough to retrofit NBT (check my post for my DIY) and you can retrofit EVO ID5 or ID6 but that requires replacing more hardware than just the computer and screen.

You're better off getting the Carplay Retrofit (or Android Auto), since either of those will be superior to iDrive.

Why spend a few grand on a retrofit when getting carplay will cost a few hundred?

Check the thread about wireless carplay on the forum. The Unichip box supports Android Auto and Car Play.

I have a 2017 which came with the newer 2018 software look. I took the car to BMW to have them do an upgrade for the newer Cell service and they "upgraded" my software to the 2015 looking version. I'm pissed. Furthermore, they cannot revert it now!?? I had worked for them for months on this since it really downgraded my experience. I know, first world problems.

That’s odd… tech explained to me today after they reprogrammed my 2017-built-early-2016 for 4G that the cellular reprogramming was completely separate from i-drive. Did your vehicle come from BMW that way or from a previous owner? I ask because maybe a previous owner upgraded themselves and BMW returned it to factory standard? Simply doesn’t mesh with what I was told today.
