BMW EGR Cooler Recall
Hi All,
I just had a call from the dealer that my 640D is being called in for an EGR Cooler recall. I already had the EGR cooler changed in 2020 under recall (which BMW acknowledge) but in the last 3 days a new recall has been posted EGR Recall (High Temp). Does anyone have any information on why the 2nd recall? Car is going in tomorrow for it (in the UK). |

Hi,
Coincidentally I noticed this recall listed on the MOT Check .gov site (U.K. based). I don't know anything more about the recall other than the message shown below, but assumed it was an EGR related issue - I planned to contact my dealer tomorrow to check: Outstanding vehicle recalls Check if BMW 6 SERIES {reg no.} has outstanding recalls Outstanding recall found This vehicle has been recalled since at least 14 July 2022. Contact a BMW dealership to arrange for repairs. If you've had the recalled component repaired recently, it can take up to 3 weeks for the manufacturer to update their records. This information is provided by the vehicle manufacturer. If you think the information is wrong, contact the vehicle manufacturer's dealership. Please do not contact the DVSA, as we are not able to change the recall status. I'll be interested to hear how you get on. |

Hi All,
Just to follow up on this. Car is now back with the invoice stating the EGR Cooler, brackets and gasket were changed. No issues with the car. Apparently the part used in the previous recall is prone to failure so a new one is required. If you have previously had the EGR recall, I would expect you will be contacted soon. |

Was booked to collect my 640D Convertible on Wednesday at 5.30pm. At 5.11pm received an email that they couldn't let it out until the EGR Cooler had been replaced on recall. I left home at 4.30pm to head to the dealer so didn't find out until I got there! A 2 hour round trip wasted.
On a positive note, it's done and the car is awesome, and will be even more so after going into DMS next Saturday. |

Dropped mine off today to be done. As said it is a completely revised part and is apparently larger and they change the egr valve at the same time as a complete unit.

Got. One back today and revised part fitted including a new egr valve as well. Was thinking of removing the egr valve to give it a clean as a preventative measure but this has saved me a job.
