My understanding is that they're identical in all respects except for the iDrive system - the '15 will have NBT vs. CIC for the 13.

Thats pretty much it, I also think that the comp pack wasn't available in the US yet for 2013 models.

Older models have different steering wheel set-up so switching to performance wheel means new airbag. NBT means much higher quality screen, sports display, lci in 2016? Comp pack was after 2013

wow...come on guys...you should know better with all this misinformation.

2013:
-Launch year, only Coupes and Convertibles in this model year
-CIC idrive

2014:
-Gran Coupe introduced
-Competition Package (575 HP) offered. http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=873975
-First generation NBT

2015:
-NBT updated to touch controller and larger screen.
-LCI headlight refresh http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1067822

2016-17:
-Competition Package power bump (600 HP) http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1264569
-Competition Edition Coupe introduced for MY2016 http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1173192
-NBT interface update

2018:
-Only Gran Coupe and Convertible models offered

2019:
-final model year
-Only Gran Coupe offered

Across all model years, the steering wheel has remained the same (2013 M5s had the old steering wheel). Really, the only updates thus far in this generation has been and likely remain:

1. headlights
2. idrive
3. ZCP

Things are a bit more complicated on the M5 side - There was even rumors that the base suspension was retuned between 2013 and 2014 and the timing for updates lagged behind the M6.

While all of this is interesting, I think it's unfair to characterize our replies as 'misinformation'. The OP asked if there was a difference in the M6, but in the absence of any other qualifications, it's safe to assume feature for feature and body for body. If he asked about comparing an M6 with and without CP, that would have elicited a different response. And I'm going to guess he's more than able to discern the difference between a convertible, 2-door hardtop, and a 4-door.

So in the end, the only difference in stock is the NBT, since the LCI consists of nothing more than moving the directionals from the bottom to the top of the lights, not worthy of a mention.

Of course, this is why you need to keep an eye on us noobs.

I feel like you're the only poster on here that knows more about the M6 in general than me
(just don't ask me about the mechanics)

The fact that you live reasonably close & know so much, I wonder if a year down the line you would be interested in helping me make my choice & joining me for test drives

When I come to the states next year I must admit I was going to get in touch with Flying Ace to see if he wanted to meet up

I also want to find someone with a 6MT and go for a drive - we didn't get them here!

when are you coming to the states? Will you be on the same flight as the Kim Dotcom's extradition flight to the states?

I may have time. if you're interested, I do attend local BMWCCA cars and coffee meets. Add yourself to the BMWCCA Golden Gate Chapter's facebook group and attend. The next one is July 21 and there will be a ton of people there (I'm personally bringing 4 more people and their cars)

You don't have to be member to attend (they never asked me about my lack of membership). They've always been friendly to non-members attending these non-exclusive events.

Hmm. I always seem to forget that my location is set to Dreamville. I'm in LA to be specific.
I'll start my search eventually; and if possible I'll maybe come up to SF if there are any BMW's I would want to check out up there; if not, if you ever drive down south, you could help me pick out the right M6 nearby.

Would it be worth it to check out any 6'ers on Cars.com out of state or should I just keep it local(Cali-based)?

haha...I don't think I'll make a trip to LA just for that....

Anyways, you should never limit yourself to just your metro area in a search.

I imagine what I'm looking for is also the most common type of M6.
Needs to have B&O, full leather, exec pack, and pre-LCI('14,'15) headlights.

Comp pack is unnecessary, color is irrelevant as I will be wrapping it(but preferably white), wheels are irrelevant, interior color is irrelevant.
No need to be too picky beyond my four requirements. This way I have a broader search available.

Ohh, and mileage, somewhere around 35k +/- 10k.

I’m curious, why the love for pre LCI headlights? I think the new ones look more modern and sleeker

Haha lol, I haven’t clicked on an article about him in a few years. I think it is April, my girlfriend is organizing it. I’ll post up closer to the time.
