FYI - N63tu owners with build date before 08/2015

Go ahead and order the 2 crankcase ventilation hoses below. The OEM ones that came on our cars originally are barely any better than a plastic wire loom, and will crack/break. In the picture below you can see the old model on top (that broke into 3), and the new thicker rubber hose that superseded it on bottom. The same thing happened with the connecting line in 05/2018 according to realoem. I had the old one sadly and it broke while I was trying to unclip it (I already had ordered a new one thankfully)

If you aren't sure which ones you have, you can just pull the engine cover off and look quickly. They sit right on top in front of the turbos. If they look like wire loom (top line in picture), order new ones. If they are thicker rubber, you should be good. BMW quoted be at $1300 with $650 being labor. It took me about 1.5 hrs to change both of these, and I've never worked on this car before. I imagine a tech could do it in around an hour. Also, the dealership quoted me 2 connecting lines in my repair estimate even though I could only find one on REALOEM and my car....

Hi cjof2003,

Great article. I am facing the same issue and found BMW extended warranty to 10 years. It might help.

Just had mine replaced. The warranty is extended to 10 years/120,000 miles. Check out this recent thread and go to post #7:

Three other parts also have the same extended warranties.

Thanks for this post.

How would I know if mine are cracked or broken without actually looking at them? Will I feel that the drive is affected?

Probably not. But you will get some oil on your engine. But it's easy to look at. Just pull your plastic engine cover off. Takes 5 seconds.

As mentioned by others...just lift up the acoustic engine cover...it really is that simple...5 seconds pop, pop, pop, pop...and the cover comes off and you can see if the hoses have been changed. See link in Walts post above for verification as to where to look for the hoses after the cover is lifted off. And it's just as easy to put the cover back on.

I have an earlier build 2015 (hoses were upgraded on F12s made after 2/15) so mine are the old style. They still seem very intact at 36,700 miles.

Of course they extend warranty after I've sold my car and can't be reimbursed, oh well.

Just keep an eye out, now that they extended the warranty (I was CPO when they denied me) on the hoses it should be a quick and simple fix when it happens.
