2012 F12 - Best Alternative to the OE Tires?

my 2012 650i Convertible is due for a new set of sneakers. I'm not at all impressed with the OE Potenza RFT's - ride is quite harsh and car feels a little twitchy with them. I don't need RFT's, if you've tried other brands on your 650i, let me know what was good and bad. Thanks!

To be honest, any tire that's not a runflat will feel better.

Ultimately, it comes done to what conditions you'll drive your car in. If you're always in sunny socal, I'll just go with a set of summer tires like the Michelin Pilot Sport series or equivalent from other brands. If you occasionally drive to winter locations, you'll want to consider all-season tires like Continental DWS06

As Flying Ace said every non RFT is an improvement. I use Pirelli Pzero. Michelin, Hankock are also good summer tires.

Went through the same question for my '13 F13 and the Michelin Pilot Sports 4S was recommended as the best all around summer sport road tire. Apparently the Cup 2's pretty much evaporate and the others are jusr... meh.

I replaced my run flats on my 2013 640d GC with Bridgestone S001 non run flats and the ride has been transformed, navigates the bumps so much better without that bone shaking jarring with the run flats, I was a bit nervous about a flat tyre but so far not needed to use the Holts spray can that I carry in the boot!

So I like the advantages of Run Flat tires over conventional tires. What is the best Run Flat tire for the 650???

Hi Walt,
This is unusual but ok if you prefer the RFT tires. The Pirelli P Zero LS runflat 275/30 R20 97Y XL *, MOE, runflat are very good tires. Look that you get those with the *. Those are specific for BMW.

Out of the variety of tire brands I had in the last years, I have had great experiences (both wet and dry) with Continental Sport Contact 6 as well as with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 though these are softer and for my taste less "sporty" than the Conti or other brands (such as Michelin, Bridgestone).

I went with Michelin Pilot SuperSports. Night and day difference. Same sneakers my 335D wears and I swear by them, car feels more planted and much more connected to the road without the annoying un-predictability I find on the corduroy CA concrete freeways.

I put these tires on my car as well and have had nothing but good experiences with them. the one issue I have with the tires is that every 12-18 months the tires begin to exhibit ozone cracking. Tire rack has been good about pro-rating the old tires towards new ones but I'm tired of the process. Looking to get some good all season tires next if anyone has a suggestion.
